My husband noticed tonight that the pregnant female kitty we took in the other day had a worm wiggling out of her back end. It came back out and it appears to be like thin spaghetti, I noticed she was licking at her bum to get at it. We thought she was pregnant but could she just have a bad case of roundworm? I'll get her to the vet Friday but now I'm worried it could be a severe infestation and no kittens in her tummy at all. She had super runny poop the first night but the little bit of pumpkin I added to her food solved it and she's had two solid bowel movements since then. I have some pyrantel pamoate from a vet visit earlier this year that the vet gave me to deworm the other cats that didn't come to the appointment. I read that it's safe to give to pregnant cats, my question is should I give it to her now instead of waiting to take her to the vet? I am still going to take her but don't want it to get worse before Friday or Saturday if they are to busy to get us in?

Just bumping this up since no one has responded, and I know absolutely nothing about that particular "de-wormer?".  Never even heard of it.  Did you happen to call your Vet's office today and ask them about giving it?  Under the circumstances, I would think it would be okay, but as I said, I'm really not familiar with it.  Sorry

Yeah I too suggest just calling the vet and asking. Calls like that are usually no problem for them. Remind them that you ARE bringing her in any way, just want to jump start the process if possible. Be sure to bring a stool sample with you.

I can't get her into the vet until next Friday. She did take the dewormer so now everyone in the house has gotten it. I noticed upon closer inspection a day after giving her the stuff that it is a tapeworm. The worms my husband thought were round like pasta were actually good old fashioned flat tapeworms. To back this up I found the dried eggs around her tail and in her bedding. I am giving her the Praziquantel tomorrow, so that should clear up really fast. The vet check will mainly be to check out her pregnancy, fecal exam and the other basics.

She's pregnant for sure, I could feel slight movement tonight once I got her to stand still. Hopefully she won't be ready to have her kittens for a few weeks, this is my first litter and I don't know how far along she is. I'm getting everything prepared tomorrow so it's all taken care of to the best of my abilities. I have a bottle, formula and all of that good stuff just in case.
