My neighbour hasa cat ! They never really take care of him so I do . Sometimes he even sleeps over in my lap the whole night or my feet ! He is always hungry and so sometimes they leave him out side in the rain and snow ! It reads my heart so I take care of him ! They caught me taking care of him and get really mad T me ! What do I do so that he is taken care of ?

If you feed him, that may be all you can do.  If you can prove they are neglecting him, you may be able to call Animal Control but if AC confiscates him, he'll go to the shelter.  You could then go and try to adopt him, depending on how the laws work where you live.

What do they say to you when they find you helping him?  Are they afraid you are trying to take him away from them?

They just told me to leave their cat alone , they don't speak proper English because they are Chinese and have heavy accents ! But I just told him he comes only when you guys lock him out and if its raining out I only bring him in so he doesn't get wet or if it's snowing so he doesn't freeze to death ! And they just walked away

I would get him microchipped in my name.  You found him, held him a few days and claimed him as your own as no owner came around.

I do not trust them much based on being so angry for you doing nothing more then feeding/petting a hungry/hungry for attention cat.  They really have some nerve to get angry at you doing what you are.

I wonder if they are under impression a well fed cat won't hunt?  Or it is being spoiled and will not hunt.

I don't know I was wondering the same thing that they only have him for hunting purposes ! But the poor thing I feel so bad ! Plus he is mostly an outdoor cat because he doesn't stay for long

If they are not feeding him at all, that's neglect.  But check you local ordinances.  In my area, if you feed a cat for 7 days, it is legally yours.

But observe also, if you give him food and pets, he will go to them less and less.  In a way, you are stealing this cat.  This is OK only if you are sure they do neglect him.

AND if you are ready to adopt him.  Giving food more than very occasionally = you take responsibility.

Im sure quite a few of astray cats got astray because different friendly persons gave them food and pet along their normal wandering routes - so they lose the feeling where is their real home and main food source.  They wont forget a real good home, but they may forget a "so so, but still OK", home.
