#5 born last night does not seem to be thriving. Seems lathargic in that it does not mew or make a sound when removed, turned on it;s back, etc. The others are quite noisy and vigorous to find nipples. When the other's were sleeping, I tried to stimulate this one awake an place it on a nipple. It moved it's little head around and then just slunk down/went back to sleep.

I am going to pet's mart now to find milk replacer. I would rather have it on hand and not need it than to need it asap (sounds like I might).

Thoughts anyone?

Yes, it is apparent if you want to save this kitten, you must work on it.  Kmr, etc.

Buy dextrose sugar (=glucose sugar) and kmr.

Make sure the kitten is warm, it perhaps need some extra warm, more then the others?

When they are coldish they get lethargic.

You may also try and  spark in extra energy in him, putting a little wetted dextrose on his gum.   If you dont have dextrose, white caro syrup or honey works too, but dextrose is best.

Continuing.

The kitten may be too weak to take bottle.  A droper is easier, or a syringe (without needle, usse such a dosing syringe).  Feed into the cheeck-corner, not straigh into the throat.

Let the kitten lie on its tummy, head up. Looks awkward, but it is so they nurse from mom.

Good luck!

next. You can try and massage the little one.

Yu can an also  carry it at your chest.  Good warmth!

Please do weigh the kittens every day, preferably in grammes.  They should gain about 10+ every day. This way you can immediately discover if somebody is not gaining....G

ood luck!

#5 seems to be catching on a bit more. She roots around well but even when placed by a nipple, she doesn't seem to know to attach. However, I did see her twice to day attached up by the "front", if you will. She scoots around pretty well. She is just not aggressive like the others. She's methodical and calculated. The others are just gung ho.

Here are their weights taken just now in grams:

#1 black 101

#2 Tabby 104

#3 black 93

#4 Orange 107

#5 Tabby 91

#6 97

I will weigh the again at 24 hrs old tonight and hope they are all gaining. I have no worries about #4. He looks a month old next to everyone else except #2 close behind.

Thank you everyone. Keep us in your prayers that they continue to thrive.
