This is biscuit ! I've heard many stories about people bringing home their new babies and having to keep them in a private room for a couple of days in order to get used to their new home . Is this nessary ?? Also I heard its not wise to buy a bed for your kitten because they are fussy and like to choose where they sleep , is this true ?? Please let me know ASAP because there is a sale going on for kitten stuff so I want to go buy everything righ away !

This kitten seems to be verry young - younger than most. 5 weeks?   Cant you let him stay at least a couple of weeks more with mom and siblings?

So you must pay extra much attention to it.

Including taking it easy in one room, which will be its safe room even when he is allowed to the rest of the flat.

Remember, be very mammy to him.

You know what food to give?  What litter to give?

You dont need to buy an especial bed, you can make him a bed from a blanket or something. Besides, most cats choose to sleep where they wants...   :)

But, yes, it is good he has his own bed - whatever you made it from.

Some sort of cat igloo is useful.

Scratching post, small and bigger

litter box, or even two...

Some plates to eat from, and drink.  Buyed or your own old porcelain kitchen plates.

Avoid plastic plates, use such from porcelain / ceramics, or stainless steel.

Some brush and or comb.

A tip: a toothbrush to pretend you lick him!

Lotsa toys.

Toys, like Da Bird and similiar...   (flies on a string)

There are surely things I dont remember...

And please, read on, on our Forums, Internet, you tube.  Visit your public library and lend some kitten- and cat books...

Remember, he is tiny and young, so you must be double so watchful and careful as with a kitten of proper age, 10-14 weeks...

Continue to report and ask!

Good luck!

It depends partly if she seems to be shy, or if she is one of the brave and curious.

If she is brave & curious, no problems, you dont need to overdo this with the safe room. It may be enough with a couple of hours.  You put there also one of her litters, so she knows where the litter is.

But if you notice she seems to be shy and anxious, in that case you do it by the book.  :)

Here part of my new answer is also, as she wont be so young as in the pic, but the normal 12 weeks.

(but she looks big for being max 9 days on that photo! open eyes and so.  Although looking twice, her ears are still the baby ears)

Good luck!

1. You talk with the little sis and ask her to take it easy!  Especielly the first days.

By this reason, make sure the kitten feels safe, before you try anything.

Some kittens are more brave / used with children, others arent...

Later on, when the kitten knows it is her home and all where-about, you can play it by the ear. Chance is good she will even be happy with the sis´ attention!

You can perhaps talk with the owner of the mom, and make sure the kittens are used to meet children?

It is one of the advantages to keep them with mom and sis / brothers till they are 12 weeks, they have time to learn quite a lot extras...

You and your sis can perhaps visit them there a couple of times, and play with the kittens?

In their own home milieu, with their mom protecting and near, they will surely be more daring.

(observe, the mom may hiss, perhaps even scratch, if you are too careless!)

Good luck!
