I'm fostering a litter of 5 kittens for the shelter where I volunteer. We have a red tabby boy, a tortie girl, and three brown tabbies -- one boy and two girls. I had to put different color hair bands (collars) on the brown tabbies so I could tell them apart in the beginning.

I've named four of the kittens, but the little tortie girl hasn't told me her name yet.
I'm not trying to follow any particular theme, just need ideas.

Red boy: Speedy Gonzales (wanna guess how he got that name?)

Brown tabby boy: Little Boy Blue, or sometimes Blue Boy, since he has a blue collar

Smallest brown tabby girl: Ladybug. She has a pink collar and started out as Pink Lady to go with Blue Boy. That morphed into Lady which morphed into Ladybug.

Bigger brown tabby girl, has a white tip on her tail: Tippy

Tortie girl with no name

So, any suggestions? If you have a story to go with a name, I'd love to hear that, too.

How about Rabbit? Rabbit the tortiseshell?

Or even better, Babs. For Bugs Bunny's female counterpart. Since the little red boy is named for a cartoon character.

She reminds me of the youngest "kitten" in the musical Cats whose name is Jemima. However, if she were my kitten, I would drop the i and call her Jemma.  Little tortie gem. :)

Oh my! She's so unique looking! I'm in love with her. Good thing I'm not foster mom- I'd want to keep all of these sweet babies! And they are so well-named. :)

To me she looks almost like she's cut from a piece of wood. "Rustic" comes to mind, or something with a wooden or barnyard theme. "Driftwood" also seems right to me, but that's such a mouthful.

What about Marble? She looks like a marbled cake with those swirly colors.

She looks to me like an Impressionist painting. so...

Dapples

or named after one of two great female Impressionists:

Morisot or Cassat

Love the photos.... the one of Speedy Gonzales is an absolute classic

She looks like a Susan. Don't know why but that name just immediately popped into my head when I looked at her. :) or use my little sister's nickname: Demon Child. Her real name is Susan but I never call her that. Just Demon. I've had some weird looks directed my way when I call to her from across a store or school yard :)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried out the different names on her but she hasn't really responded to any of them. I have to say that she is a very girly girl, so names that could be for either a boy or girl don't really fit her well. She also mellower than any tortie I've ever met. Of course, she may develop some tortitude as she grows, but for now she's an absolute lover.

How about Brindle, sense she is brindle in color? ...or Sweetie, because she just looks like a little sweetie!

Since she has so much orange/rust in her coat pattern, how about Rusti or you could always name her Splash due to the splash of orange on her nose.

First thing I thought is spice , because of her spicy looking colors . I thought that in the first photo where the coat looks lighter. (But it also looks absolutely fantastic in the other two where the black-based pigment appears darker. than in the first photo. )

Cinnamon , Canelle , Canella , or Cassia which is another species of cinnamon.

or Nutmeg ! or the botanical name of the nutmeg tree is Myristica fragrans

or Allspice ! lol

Or Clove ! That goes with the last 2 pictures that are darker. I kind of like Clove. but maybe I am weird.

or just call her Spice. Spice Cat .

Beautiful little kitten and so are the others.

Well, she's still not being very cooperative about her name. I like Meghan, but she really didn't respond to that. Cleopatra is a good suggestion, too. The only problem with that is that we had a tortie named Cleo at the shelter recently and I don't know how long they want to wait before using the same name again.

I'm kind of leaning toward the first suggestion of Rabbit, except I'd call her Bunny instead because it sounds more like a little girl name to me. For now I've mostly been calling her Baby Girl.

Maewkaew, the darker pictures are when I first brought the kittens home. It's partly the lighting, but she actually has gotten lighter as she's grown, especially on her back.
