Just a thought -
Did this start with/around your move? With/around your change of routine?

When we moved the same thing happened to Bugsy :heart3:

His appetite went low, he wasn't eating like he was eating before, he was feeling down, and I really thought he was sick :paranoid:

Turns out, it was the stress of the move that messed up his system
With time his digestion got better and all fell into place

Not saying she is fine or sick..... But kitties are very very sensitive, and some more than others..... When this happened to Bugsy I freaked out and thought he was really sick - BUGSY not eating?? :thud:

But he got better once we got settled and he got used to the house......

Do you think this might be a possibility?

Maybe some rescue remedy/Feliway combo might help?

No, Flowerbelle isn't the type to get into something. Given it's been a week, I figure she'd either be vomiting, if it's a blockage, or she'd have passed it by now, if it was something along those lines.

Carolina, that's a good point.

...but in her 11 years, she moved out of the RV into a house; from the house into another house; then from the house back into the RV. All the cats - except Billy and Chumley - have been in the RV on road trips. She's been on ... four of them? She was sleeping in a bed on the dash right in front of Gary when we actually moved, and all she did was wake up.

Traveling in the RV isn't at all the same as moving, because their entire environment moves with them. Yes, there's some stress at stowing things to move, but they're used to the engine being turned over as we do it once a month.

So I'm confident it's not the move. And we pulse the Feliway two week on, two weeks off as it is, and it's been "on" these past two weeks.

Oh - and it started before the move or before moving anything inside.

No - this gurgly tummy is something else.

...and our vet wasn't in today. :( She's normally in Mondays.

Flowerbelle continues to perk up, and wants to eat... but her tummy is still incredibly gurgly. She did eat 5/8ths of an ounce of chicken, and grabbed a small piece of beef out of Lazlo's bowl all at one go - and then about 1/2 an hour later wanted more food, and she did eat about 1/2 an ounce of chicken baby food.

So I think whatever this is, she's getting better / feeling better. But this gurgling is just a mystery.

Well, she is definitely feeling a little bit better. This is how it was with Ming Loy. A little bit better, and a little bit better....

She came in advance of dinner, for the meal, and paced around on the stove in anticipation, as she normally does! We were having chicken hearts, and she started trying to get at them the minute they hit her dish. Because of her previous choking on one, I cut hers in half - I had to put the dish in the sink while I did that or she would have grabbed one! I only put out half an ounce, but she gobbled it right up! So I put out another half ounce - and she ate half, walked around on the counter, burped a couple of times, and came back to finish them. Then she sat at the end of the counter and burped a couple of times.

:dk:

I know there are other cats that burp after eating their food, but this is new for her, and part of the "urpies." I had to fix the bowls of food for the others and the air conditioning was running, so I couldn't hear if her tummy was gurgly as the food went down. Either way, she ate an ounce - and went to sit in the bathroom, where she kept pushing on the door (meaning she wanted more food!). I know - strange routines. :lol3: But she's always had a kind of "ADD" about eating (not the most food motivated cat), and for a long time, having her eat in the bathroom was the solution (no distractions). Now it's her... I want more food spot, or her comfort spot.

So I offered her chicken babyfood. Nope.
I offered her freeze dried chicken. Nope.
I offered her more chicken hearts. Nope.
I offered her chicken breast. Nope.
Then I tried chicken liver - and she ate it! She ate five small pieces!

So definitely on the mend, behaviorally. :)

Hi Laurie, i just saw the thread. I'm glad she's feeling a bit better. We've had periodic rumbly tummies in our household and the two best things that seem to help them are slippery elm and digestive enzymes. By giving SEB, she'd get some nutrients in her as well. Sipping it as tea actually helped me last week when my tummy was a bit rumbly. I know some of your cats get it somewhat regularly, is Flowerbelle one of them?

Great thought! :doh3: The problem is she hates the stuff. I haven't found anything in which to disguise it. Maybe I should just syringe some into her. In fact, I think I'll do just that. I'll mix it with baby food. Off to do that right now. Maybe it'll settle her tummy before the late night meal...

And thanks catspaw!

I mixed up 1/4 teaspoon of slippery elm bark powder, 1 teaspoon of George's Aloe Vera juice and mixed that glop into some babyfood. She ate a lick and walked away. :lol3: I syringed 2/3 of it into her. There were very small tummy gurglies as it went down, and no burps afterwards. I would expect this to impact her appetite for the late night meal, with a fairly full tummy from that. I'll feed it late though, and see how it goes... :cross:

I too am just catching this thread. So glad she's feeling better. Continued
it's passing and it's just some bug running it's course.

Well Flowerbelle ate her entire ounce of dinner with her normal enthusiasm, no gurgles that I could hear, and no burps after. :D

Now, whether or not it was the SEB, I'm not sure we can say, because she was already perking up.

But we'll find out soon enough, because now it's Shelly's turn. :( He's been "picky" about eating, not finishing his meals entirely off and on for the past two days. I wondered... but thought it might be because of the babyfood and special attention Flowerbelle was getting (though he didn't act like that when it was going on for Ming Loy).

But he didn't show up at all for this meal. :sigh:

I made him SEB and George's aloe vera in babyfood and found him. Normally he'd gobble up a "treat" like that. He ate about half of it. I am going to give him Cerenia as well, because he was sitting all hunched up looking quite miserable. :(

Whatever this is, it is weird - so slow!

I really hope no one else comes down with this. :cross: It makes them feel so miserable. :(

Yep, and a strange one. No fevers, no diarrhea...just very upset tummies.

Oh. And Shel threw up just liquid this afternoon. It was too much volume to be bile. He did keep down what he ate of dinner-time dinner. (I know, it gets confusing because I call all meals, no matter the time, "dinner." Just habit. It's the word the kitties know for meal-time).

:sigh:

**********

Thank you, everyone, for the vibes. Looks like Sheldon really needs them. ...and the kitties that haven't gotten it...

Ditto that. Wonder what kind of bug would act as it is. I agree...very wierd. But now with #3 acting "off", it most likely is one of some sort huh? Lots of
from me too that this also runs it's course quickly.

It always amazes me how quickly a bug can travel and effect the cats so differently. One year ago we brought our kitten Pepper into our fold. She had a virus, and we thought we were being very careful about keeping her seperate from the other cats. Socks was affected first - kept to herself and had to be tempted to eat. Couple days later, Clark kept going to the food and water bowls, staring, but not partaking. A couple days after that, Lewis' whole throat swelled, and he required a feeding tube and was also diagnosed with pancreatitis. It was certainly a wearying (and expensive) month, but they (and us humans) all pulled through. I hope Shelly is the last of your bunch to feel off. Hopefully it passes quickly!

Lcat4, that's it. ! Talked it through with the vet. We probably brought whatever this is home from the two five week old kittens we rescued in June. Ming Loy's symptoms coincide with 2 days after we visited the kittens at the vet.

I also suspect that Chumle and Billy already had a milder version of it. Gary reminded me there was a period of two days the week Ming Loy was sick that Chumley didn't eat a meal (!!) and left a few bites at a few meals. Billy did the same this past week.

So far Lazlo, Tuxedo and Spooky seem fine. :cross:

I'm to fast Shel 24 hours, offer him small meals after that, but let him not eat for up to 2 days. Give him Cerenia and pepcid daily (already done), and use the SEB and the George's aloe vera juice. I'll start that again tomorrow (gave him some last night). But he didn't come for breakfast this morning and is in hiding. :heart2:

Yes, it has completely run its course through Flowerbelle. She is 100% back to being Princess Imp. ;)

Man - this thing comes on slow, but once the turn-around starts, it's over with quickly. :cross:

Shel purrs when petted, but looks so miserable! :(

Thank you all so much for the vibes for ... Ming Loy, then Flowerbelle, and now Shelly. :heart2:
