I have seen several brands of cat food on this site but no mention of the above. It is a bit gluey and I think the ingredients are OK but not sure. I think it is giving my 12w kitten loose stools
I myself think they do a great try to make a good dry food.
I would prob try it if it was accessible in Sweden, as my residents dont like wet.
But I see they do have essentielly the same contains with their wet food, ie they do dissolve their dry with water and sell it canned. I myself feel it is to overdo it.. I mean, if all these groceries are really necessary for cats can be discussed. They are surely good in dry food, as they are a very nice alternative instead for cereals like wheat and wheat gluten. As there must be something to keep togehter the dry kibble, so better with somewhat useful carbos than harmful carbos.
But what is the point of all those extras in wet food?
I'm guessing it's the wet variety since you say it's gooey. This is the Pet Values store brand. Though it says it's grain free, I see a lot of vegetable and potato in the ingredient list. Your kitten may be sensitive to these, so yes, could be the food. Try a more limited ingredient food. Even Fancy Feast classic's maybe. When looking at grain free's, it's important to remember, grain free doesn't mean low carb. Companies are trying to be slick in replacing grain carbs with vegetable carbs. It allows them to label "grain free" and still cut costs. Foods to look for are high protein, moderate fat, and low carbs with hopefully no veggies/potato. There is a great food list on catinfo.org. Lists the % of each (protein/fat/carb) in most of the canned food available.
I looked now at the fat contents. They are lowish. While 40% protein in dry is not fantastic but good enough for dry, the fat content is 18. Its reasonable for adults, but not for kittens.
In wet the ratio was even worse, 10% and 2,5%.
Nay, if you want dry so this dry is surely OK for adult cats, its even above average. The product being "holistic" being extra plus, I say. As I said, I would probably buy it for my dry eaters, if it was sold in Sweden.
But the wet is a ridicolous product, barely OK for adults. If holistic is important for you = lets upgrade it half a step and call it OK, but not more.
