Hello everyone...

Just done a whole lot of food shopping... I normally buy organic and am quite a market shopper, but if I do buy pre-packaged food of any type I scan the label for all the ingredients, but I never seem to be bothered with the nutrition breakdown and other info..

And I was wondering:

What is important to you on food labels?

Ingredients, nutrition info, low sugar/fat, place of origin etc?

And are you swayed by really nicely designed packaging?

Good morning, Mani

We do look at the ingredients and I look at nutrition info, particularly calories and fat content. I do tend to look at where the food is from (it's amazing that most of our produce seems to be from Mexico and Chile!).

Packaging does absolutely nothing for me, other than make me shake my head. We pay for all that fancy packaging!

I do try to look over the fats, sugars and sodium on the packaging of things.  Sometimes it varies by brand!  I guess when we shop I try to take a  comprehensive look at things.  Packaging doesn't sway me; I buy generic without a second thought.  But there are some items the taste is different so I stick with my favorite brand. (Mayo and ketchup in particular.)

Usually I look over the fats, carbs, sodium and ingredients. Packaging doesn't make a difference to me.

Remember-- don't go to the grocery store hungry. That's when you tend not to give a flip about ingredients, or nutrition, and such.
