My kitten got spayed yesterday and all day today she has been jumping up and down the bed, windows, and going up and down the stairs etc. I have tried to keep her in a room but wherever she is she finds something to climb. Today I got a call from the vet and they asked how she was doing since yesterday and I told them great that the only issue was that she wouldn't stay still so they said to keep her in a cage for 5 days because she could open her wound. The problem is here; I do not have a cage the only thing I have is her carrier but it is so tiny, I feel horrible leaving her there and I am also afraid she will get bored and start messing with her wound. What r the possibilities her wound will open if I let her out of her carrier? And what other options do I have other than leaving her in there? Please help!!!!

Can you get an e-cone/collar--a big pet store might have them.  The vet should have one too.

I'll move this thread to the Health forum for you. I know it feels like an emergency to you, but he S.O.S. forum is intended to be used for cat rescue issues and you probably won't get as many people responding to your post.

Well, how does it look so far? We never used a cone or contained our cats after a spay procedure. We were fortunate in that none of our girls messed with their stitches. But our vets just said "try to keep them from being overly active." Our reply - they're kittens! And the vets would laugh and say, yeah, well just keep an eye on them and don't actively engage them in play. :dk:

Some TCS members have had to go back to get a few stitches restitched - we never did. The worst case is that she does open the wound, and you have to take her in to have some stitches replaced.

Others may have other advice. :dk: Mine is just keep an eye on her wound and hope. :rub: Sending vibes she'll be fine! :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:
