Morning guys!

What are you planning for the July 4th holiday?

We're going to my sister's on Thursday night; her community has a great fireworks display. It's very nice and we don't have parking problems or traffic issues. We go to her place, park in her driveway, sit on her front porch to see the display over the creek, and wait til all the traffic has dissipated before going home. This year, she's having a fruit and veggie tray, and she ordered a large chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting for us all to munch on while we're watching the fireworks. With Mrs. Z's Mint Tea Wine to wash it all down.

And then we're having our July 4th celebration dinner on Saturday at our house. Pulled pork sandwiches with espresso BBQ sauce, baked beans, potato salad, broccoli salad, plenty of iced tea, lemonade and beer. And a Texas sheet cake for dessert. There will be 20 of us, as I think all of our kids are coming home for dinner, too, and Rick's parents, sister and BIL are coming.

The reason we're doing the dinner on Saturday is because both Rick and I have to work on Friday (so does our son) and it's a lot of work for just one day. It will take us about six hours for the pulled pork on the grill, so better for a weekend.

I really don't know. :dk:

We live not too far from the "Oldest continuous Fourth of July parade". Many of those attending drive by the top of my street to get to it. It's best for us to stay home right before or right after the parade to avoid traffic. For the past few years we have met up with a friend and have gone out to lunch, far away from the parade.

There are fireworks right down the road from us.

Stay at home with my terrified dog.  They set off various things on the street.  Last year was not to bad the year before was HORRIBLE(did not have dog then though).  She jumped over the 30 in baby gate yesterday during thunder.  Just be upstairs AC on blinds closed and tv on kinda loud.

Order take out of some kind and be in for the night long before it gets dark.

I was just looking at the list of places to go see fireworks.  We've never taken DD before but it's time...  I just dont want to deal with the traffic!!  The closest places to us are either downtown (ugh) or a the beach (tourists plus! double ugh!).  I need to find someplace where it's easy to park and still see!

The 4th is my step-dad's birthday.  He doesn't want to do anything so Mom said ok; she's not doing anything.  DD wants to make him pink cupcakes.
Fortunately strawberry cake is his favorite.
So we'll make them and take them by.

We live near Buckeye Lake so we will probably go up on the lake front and watch the fireworks .

every year I go to my sister's for a BBQ and fireworks after. This year, she's combining 4th with my BIL's 40th birthday party. It'll be fun :)

Shoot off some old bottle rockets during the day - down the driveway so they don't scare the ladies, and then watch fireworks in town, then watch the 4th of July show on PBS.

I am afraid of all things that blow up and have to do with fire. So no noisey things will be coming from my direction.Well... not that will have to have fire to light it.

Zero tolerance around CO for fireworks cuz of wildfire threat.  Never a shortage of idiots, though. Even most public displays have been canceled or are considering doing so. So it could be a much quieter 4th than usual.

That's the way it was here last year. Since we have gotten a lot of rain recently, we have gone from extreme drought conditions to normal conditions. The bad side is we have had several people drown in flood waters here, including our county sheriff and a game warden, who were trying to rescue two women from a flooded house. It collapsed, killing all four of them
