Hi Everyone, I had a routine checkup today at the vet and was told that my beautiful cat has a grade 3 heart murmur.  He is was born October 2010, 2.5 years old and shows no signs of distress whatsoever.  The vet has recommended an ultrasound and said it is manageable via meds.  Does anyone have experience with this?  I'm a bit in denial.  Thanks, Pipa1010

Learn all you can about the heart murmurs.  Knowledge is power over doubt and fear.

God bless your little one and hope all comes out ok.

I agree with having the ultrasound done, look for a cardiologist, not just an ultrasonographer.(even if they are a DVM).

There is also a screening test called a NT pro-BNP that will tell you if you need to do an ultrasound or not but it is only a screening test, it doesn't tell you the why.

Tricky thing with murmurs, they can be nothing, they can be serious.
