Hiya!  I am new to the site, but not to cats.  I have lived in the country my whole life and found my first kitten when I was about 5.  The kitten grew, had couple litters of kittens, and eventually died.  Her kittens had kittens, and those kittens had kittens, and we still have cats running around (no we don't have 500 cats running around, we currently have four.  When we got to many we gave them to other family members [who live on farms] to help keep the mice down).  While I fancy felines, I have had two dogs in my lifetime; Tip who died in 2003, and Blue who is 9 years old).

I have an indoor cat named Jasmine, she is a long hair calico/tortie, and she is 11 years old and I have had her every single year.  She is a little diva, and you don't pet her unless she allows it.  She loves pom-poms (like the ones you might put on art projects) and her favorite toy is a sock with a pom-pom on the heel that she stole from my mom.  She doesn't like other cats or dogs in her territory (there have been a few instances where we've had to have other animals inside with us).  Because the first child she met was my nephew, who went screaming up to her in hopes of petting her and thus scared her, she doesn't like kids.  She's also not fond of people who she's not always around (my big bro, my grandparents, my best friend, etc) but she's getting better with both kids and "strangers."

I have been off at college last few years and just recently graduated from college, and working to finish up a few things so I can have a job.  I like to draw using soft pastel (which is a chalk-like material), which is why my username involves the word "pastel."  Jasmine has been in the same home she has been in for 11 years so moving to a new apartment worries me a little (so if anyone has recommendations or ideas to make that transaction more comfortable for her I'd appreciate it) but considering I don't have a job yet I'm not too worried just yet about moving her.  I have a few other concerns but I'll post those elsewhere.

So that's a little about me, a chunk about Jazz.  Glad to be here, I hope to learn a lot from this site and fellow cat lovers, and hopefully I can help someone else with their questions or problems with their cats.
