UGH! This the season once again and as usual, I've got some.

I've tried just about everything over the years to help, but I'm curious what all of you do when you get poison ivy?

My husband got it once. He went swimming in a swimming pool and also in the ocean. It cleared up. We were on vacation so he couldn't go to the doctor.

Any OTC antihistamine, but stuff like Zantac can help in a pinch.

Oatmeal stuffed in an old nylon is nice to bathe with.

I always get such a bad reaction with it, that I wind up having to go to the doctor and get the steroid packs.  I hate them, but let me tell you the rash disappears fast!

I used to get it really bad when I was a kid,and always ended up with a trip to the doc and steroids.I have learned over time that when I know I've been exposed to the sap, like when I mow close to my fencerow,I take a shower and scrub down ,especially my legs and feet, with lye soap.I always have a couple of bars on hand just because it does work to remove the sap so well.I haven't had an outbreak in many years thanks to this practice I believe.Hubby is a non believer and had a patch of it come up a couple of years ago.I scrubbed that patch with the lye soap and then dabbed with bleach.I know...ouch isn't all he said! But it dried up in a couple of days and never spead. At any rate, it works for us!
