Hi my name is Isabelle. I am from Québec Canada (as I speack french, I 'll do my best in English).
My 2 years old cat, had 4 kittens last night. I placed the family in a drower. While I was asleep mommy place them all downstairs in her transport box. Now , unfortunatly, one baby died.Mommy seams nervous, meowing alot. Like crying. I took dead baby away. It was worst. She was more anxious. I showed it to her. She grabed it and took it back with the other 3 healthy kittens. What  should I do? Can you help us? Also, since almost one hour and an half, I have not seen mommy feed her 3 alive kittens. I am worried, you know.
Please can you tell me what to do with dead baby? Should I worry that she is not feeding? Is it normal she moved them away from me?
Thank you so much!
Isabelle

Yes, sure she is crying. She miss her baby, she understands something is wrong. Usually, they themselves take away a dead baby. Sometimes they even eat it up, so there will not be any traces for predators.  Here, good you let her notice the baby is dead, and mourn some. It is time to take it away for good now.

Yes, it is quite common moms move them babies. With reason or without good reason. They can feel unsecure. The nest can began to be smelly (so do change the bedding every day, so it wont get smelly.

Or any other reason.  You cant win, if you dont want her to move, the only way is to have the little family in one room, closed.

In the wild, the mom cant always be with her kittens the whole time. So there are some margins.

Is the mom with them? Warming them, washing?  Even if she doesnt give them milk?

but to be on the safe side, it is smart if you do have some kmr milk at home, or goat milk, and a dropper or such.

You never know if it may be necessary to give some of them extra.

It is also good to weigh them every day, at the same time. This way you know if they get enough.

They should gain 10+ grammes every day.

Continue with reports and questions!

 Good luck!
