Well, they figured out WHAT changes, not WHY it changes :/. But it's a start! Hopefully they'll find a cure/prevention soon.

:yeah: After so many decades of researching this killer, some progress has finally been made.
“Using a unique interdisciplinary approach, we’ve found the first known molecular basis for FIP,” said Whittaker. “This could have implications for similar coronaviruses, such as FIPV’s deadly cousin in ferrets and another human-infecting cousin emerging in the Middle East.

Another MERS coronavirus death in Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia said another person had died of the SARS-like coronavirus MERS and six new cases were registered, as international experts said on Saturday countries should standardise their approach to treating the disease.

The latest cases bring the total number infected worldwide to 70, with 39 having died since MERS was identified last year.

I lost a awesome kitty to FIP some years ago, it was one of the hardest things I had to go through.
