Very confused. My cat gave birth yesturday as you all know, she ate up five placentas apparently there very rich. She haa just now had diarrhea only this once. Shws been eating and drinking plenty. Is there a need to go to the vets or could it be that the placentas werw rich

Yes, it is the placentas rich.  If unlucky, they CAN get heavy diarrhea after eating many placentas, but in this case you will see it.

If it is just some one or two watery poos, dont panic, its normal.

You said one, yes?

:)

Good luck!

Yes shes only had it the once, shes eating and drinking well. I was trying to remove some od the placentas after the kittens were born but she ate them almost immediatly. I dread to think how stressful pregnancy and birth is for a cat xx

Sorry one last question? The queen cat is nursing her kittens well and cleaning them etc however she does tend to leave them (not far just goes outside the box) and lies down for about fifteen minutes. Is this her just wanting to relax?

yes. Not any problem I think, she is near and will return as soon as they begin to complain. And they arent cold, so it is surely OK.

In the wild moms are seldom the whole time with them, they must go and eat sometimes.

Good luck!

Maybe she's needing a mother's day out? LOL If she was an indoor/outdoor at before, perhaps she's just wanting to take a stroll again. I'm no expert, but I am not aware that they come in heat while nursing. That said, the last pregnant one we took in was in heat within 2 weeks of the kittens being weaned and the vet charges more to fix while in heat.

Ill have a search but ill just keep my eye on her.
Do these weights sound ok for a 3 day old kittens as I couldnt weigh them yesturday as my scales broke.

Kitten 1 is: 4.94 ounces
Kitten 2 is: 4.34
Kitten 3 is: 4.34
Kitten 4 is: 4.87
Kitten 5 is: 4.37
they all look healthy and their bellys are plump :)

Is she a first time mommy? Could be she's just not sure what she's doing. We all learn on the job. :)

You are wise not to let her out. Her hormones are probably readjusting, which may give her a feeling like being in heat. And she may very well be in heat, so better safe than sorry.

She was a stray but the vets assumed this was her first labour as she would have probably only been in heat once. Shes feeding them and caring for them but she is wanting to go out. Im keeping her i n until she is spayed anyway hah

Yes she'll be staying inside until she is spayed. Additionally the kittens are gaining more than 10 grams a day so i am pleased

Oh yes, they can come in heat while nursing.  Often already some week after delivery.  And they want out for searching of males, to great despair to their owners and great risks for themselves.

Unlike humans, where nursing tends to slow down much the fertility.
