Alright so here's the issue.

My Cat Reno has developed some sort of skin irritation or infection but I'm not really sure what it is.. I was hoping maybe someone out there might recognize what this is. Whatever it is it had to have just come up very quickly because I cut his nails not too long ago and then a few days later I found this.

Basically what has happened is he has lost the fur between his toes, (This is only happening on one foot) the skin appears somewhat red and there is some sort of goo in there as well. I have been cleaning it daily with hydrogen Peroxide and sometimes it does fiz. While it does seem somewhat uncomfortable for him he doesn't seem to be in any extraordinary pain, as you can see since he lets me handle his foot and spread his toes, he even lets me clean it with a Q tip. He has been eating and drinking fine and is still jumping around all over the place like he usually does.

If this does not clear up in the next week or so I will be taking him to the vet, I would have already but unfortunately my roommates and I were recently in a car accident and so getting around has been somewhat difficult for various reasons. I am just hoping someone out there might have an idea what I'm dealing with here.

Although it might not look it the color of his skin has gotten better from when I first noticed it, it was quite red.

Welcome to The Cat Site.

Sorry to hear about your car accident--and maybe Renos?

My thoughts -- and I have no personal knowledge, experience:  any chance Reno walked through a substance that got on his paws and he had an allergic reaction to it?  Does he go outdoors?

Vail, hydrogen peroxide does more damage than anything else......it destroys new skin cells - that impedes healing. It can cause scarring. It's really "old medicine" coming from 'old wives tales'/urban myths. More here: Wound Care True or False

It definitely needs to be seen by a vet because it could abscess.  You could possibly try soaking it in some warm water with a bit of Epsom salt in it.

My cat had what I thought was a wound or infection on his paws that looked similar, except his was much worse as I didn't catch it early.  It turned out to be something called eosinophilic granuloma complex.  It can become quite serious (and expensive to treat, as in $700 for mine) so I'd get it checked out just so you know what you're dealing with.
