So, I'm going to adopt a kitten soon, the black one, and I was wondering how old they were and so when could I take them? They currently live on a friend's farm, but they have no idea of the age of the kittens because the mother gave birth somewhere hidden in a barn and when they found out, they were quite big already.

I first saw them on the 5th of may, by then their eyes were wide open although they were quite small.

They eat dry cat food and their mother has fed them rabbits , and  think it's been abotu 2 or 3 weeks that they've been eating dry food regularly, although again not sure. (since then the kittens have been upgraded to a caravan, which is a better fitting envirnment, less rain and all)

the dark stripy one s a male and the other two females (well I think anyways)

Here are some pictures, I took them 5 days ago, I will be going to see them hopefully tommorow (I often go to the farm to buy food, and visit those cuties so they get accustomed to us a bit :3)

Thank you very much in advance for your help!!

Also for the white one, another friend wants to adopt her but basically his mum is afraid that the cat might ruin the furniture and the new refurbished house. They already have a cat who uses the scratching post, what could be done in order to avoid this and hence let them take the kittne no risk? (also the white one is the 'lazy' one that seems the calmest out of the lot.)

They look about seven weeks old. Most people say 12 weeks is the best time to adopt a kitten. That gives the kittens plenty of time to learn to be cats from mom. A little earlier won't hurt.

About the white one - spaying and neutering of course, but providing the kitten with her own post will help. The resident cat has established the post as her own, so the new kitten will need some place to call her own. The family

Aren't they a bit older? as the first time I saw them was about 7 weeks ago and they already had their eyes opened then? Ok well we were already planning to wait at least until into july to take them, so that should be fine!

ohh ok thank you! i will tell them to buy new post and deterant then! I really hadn't thought of deterant, are there any good brands that really work?

Also not about kittens but on of my cats (I have three at the moment) has fleas, and we've treated her many times with frontline (and anotehr one but i forogt the name) and she just stil has fleas, have you got any tips how to get rid of them? the product seems to work fine on the other 2 cats its really weird! I don't know if its relevant but the 2 flea-free cats spend most of their time outside (well at the moment, because its nice weather and all) an the flea one just never goes outside, or for a maximum of 10 minutes, would that have anyting to do with it?

Kittens' eyes open at about ten days, so they may be 8 weeks old. They don't look too much older.

Your cat with the fleas may have the flea larva (flea's reproductive system uses the cat's digestive system). I know, gross. If any of your cats have white worms on their butts that look like rice, they need a good dosing to kill the larva too. The vet will have it. There's also a shot I think.

I am not sure if the topicals like Frontline work on the larva.

By deterents, I meant something like sticky tape. We have so many scratching posts, we've never had a problem with the furniture. I do not know if there's anything that smells that would deter them from scratching. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

That's tapeworms, not flea larvae. . .flea larvae live in the grass/carpet/etc., not in the cat. But, yes, tapeworms are dependent on fleas to develop! You can ask the vet for a safe de-wormer that works on tapeworms.

If Frontline isn't working for the one cat anymore, ask the vet for a different product like Advantage or Revolution or Comfortis. Sometimes the products lose their efficacy, and everybody has a different body chemistry so Frontline just might not react properly with her. You might have to treat the house, too.

They're probably around 8 or 9 weeks now. The 2 of them look that age, although the little white one looks younger, but maybe she's the runt. Were they walking the first time you saw them?

We dewormed all our cats quite recently so that shouldn't be a problem, I will go buy another flea thing then, hopeuflly it will work!!

es they were walking, quite well actually the first time I saw them.

The white one is very quiet and when they play she's often the one that's 'beaten', so I would say she's the runt.

If they were walking well, they were probably about 4 weeks old. So if that was 7 weeks ago, that would make them 11 weeks old now :/. They are small but maybe their parents are small, or maybe they weren't getting good nutrition when very young. In any case they are old enough to go to new homes whenever you're ready.
