can I let my two feral boys out?  They were neutered this am and we will pick them up in a couple hours.

I know the folks at the spay/neuter clinic will tell us, just wanted to get some in put from all of you.  They have been around for a while and consider our barn their home.  The one black one, BK, was coming home beat up before we had them done today.

They will be set free and hope they continue to come and eat here and use our barn to sleep.  Just don't want to let them go too soon before the hormones subside.

Thanks!

I've read/heard it takes around two weeks for the hormones to completely leave the body.

For recuperation purposes only, I'd keep the boys inside until tomorrow morning.

Oh thats good.  Yea, I will at least keep them in that long.  They have been in for almost 6 weeks in the barn confined to a smaller area.  They are nice and safe and can go outside into an enclosed area too.

Thank you!

Ritz is right. Although it takes awhile for the hormones to dissipate, they can be let go tomorrow morning. Are they feral or friendly? If friendly, you can keep them inside longer if you want. If feral, they'll be happier outside.

Thanks for the info...they are feral. One is less scared, but def feral.  Funny, one was already neutered!  He has such long hair I couldn't tell.  The other is about 6 years old according to the  clinic.

Will try to let them go today.  Problem is,  the more frightened one is up in the rafters of the barn and comes down to eat.  The other stays down and waits patiently at a distance to be fed.  I don't want them to run out seperately and loose eachother.  Going to have to get the other one down and block his access to the rafters so they can go out together....always something!

I hope they come back. They have been here over a year and usually laze around in the sun at a distance from us.  I really do love the guys.

Thanks again all.

I will bet they will come back as you are their food source.  They may disappear for a day or so, but then they will be hungry.  I have done TNR with 3 and 2 were back within a day.  The other one I knew would be a tough nut and he stayed away for 4 weeks.  Yet, he is my wanderer and not one that lives by me all the time.
