Hi everyone :)

I guess that some of you might own a big kitty or two...

My little Fletcher is about 11 weeks old and he is getting very big very fast. We are not sure of his breed ancestry and we did not see the parents, so we cannot know how big will he get. And we are wondering...

Is it considered normal for an 11 weeks old kitten to weight about 1.6 kg (more or less 3,5 pounds)? Have you ever owned a kitty with a similar weight and, if so, do you have an opinion on how much will he grow? Does something like a kitten growth chart exist? I can't seem to find anything on the web.

I SWEAR he's not fat, but as you can see in the picture below he enjoys his meals!

I hope this is the right place for this thread... :( I didn't know what to chose betweet this one and cat nutrition... But I thought that I'm not really asking about food stuff, so...

Please forgive me if I did wrong and move the thread!

That's a quite normal weight for a 3 month old.  At 12 weeks my kittens weighed in at the vet at 3 and 3.6 pounds, respectively; neither is a bigger than average adult cat though the 3.6 pounder did end up being slightly bigger than the 3 pounder.

I don't usually see my fosters as adult but I've surrendered them at 12 weeks with weights ranging from a little over 2 pounds to 4.5 pounds or so.  I really don't know if there is much correlation between that and their adult weights.

Hopefully someone else will be able to chip in.

Really? Probably in Italy cats are a little smaller than that, because, aside from maine coons, he's the biggest kitten i've ever seen. My friend's cat, who grew into a big one, was that size at 4 months of age! Different countries, different cats i guess :)

I'm pretty sure that my kitty was about 3.5 pounds, if not 4, when I adopted him at 11 weeks.  He's 12 pounds now at 11 months!

My kitten is very big for her breed and for a female, she is a Birman. She weighed about that at 12 weeks and she was 5 pounds at 16 weeks. The breeder said she would be big but I am not sure how big. My friend was actually telling me that my kitten is so big because she was in an all male litter and females born under these circumstances are larger. My ragdoll on the other hand was the runt and he is now very small for his breed at 9 pounds.

Hi hi!

Toby is about 12 weeks old and weighs just under 3lbs.  He's expected to be 10+ lbs.

You can't really predict the adult size of a mixed breed cat.  You can tell if a mixed breed puppy will be big as an adult but not a cat.  I know a lot of the large purebreds take longer to reach full adult size sometimes as much as 2 years.  A kitten may gain something close to their adult size much quicker than another kitten.  He is a cute kitten.

I agree. Two of my cats are brother and sister, and were the same size when I got them at 8 months old. Julie now weighs 7 lbs and Mason weighs 13 lbs. Both are are of appropriate body weight; Julie is just a smaller kitty.

I had a kitten Who was an Apple head Siamese. He was 9 lbs at 4 months when he was neutered. He matured to about 10-12 lbs.
