My cat went missing last year bear christmas. He doesnt really go to people, i gave up hope on him. Just last night i saw a cat at the end of our road climbing a fence. I called him he ran away, im 100% sure its him. It looked exactly like him. How do i know whos keeping him? I have knocked doors near those fences and there was a few stingy people saying theyve never seen him.
How do i know whos lying? I know for a fact that was my little baby i could see it in hos eyes. I want him back what do i do? No ones admitting to seeing him.

Hes never abouy during daytime. I walk past that road various times.
Ive seen him twice now, once on new years eve about 2am. And today again at 2-3am in the morning.

Maybe they really do not see him or keep him.

Set a trap.  That is your best bet.  Go out at night and talk softly.

If you get him back take him IMMEDIATLY to the vet for check up, testing and neuter if not done.

Ive neutred him. He had an operation because he had the pica habit. I spent over 500 on him and someone took him straight. It was like he didnt recognise me but was trying to remember me.

I dont know if i should go knock on the doors and ask. Or just wait for the night again.

If he was outside and they took him maybe they thought he was a stray and then got attached or who you talked to did not know cat was in house/being fed by someone in house.

Your best bet is to get a trap.  Re hang signs if you can.  Go slow, being out for so long he will be afraid. First things first is to get him to come into your yard and try to feed at certain times to build a routine.

No. If you knew someone was keeping him and he was suffering from wounds or abuse then yes but they would not go into all your neighbors houses. YOU need to look outside.  People may really not have scene him so could still ask but do not rely on that only.

I havent seen him for the past 7 months. I had a cat go missing in 2010 so i gave up on this one. But i saw him last night and i know it was him. He has stitches on his belly and i dont mean all the houses just about 4 or 5 along this road

This.  Also, you have to brace yourself for the possibility that one of them may now be the legal owner of the cat.  If you are in the USA and someone has microchipped him, they are now the legal owner and you will have a VERRRRY hard time proving he is yours.

However, I agree with others that I wouldn't jump to the conclusion a neighbor has taken him. Why would he be outside then?

... He has stitches on his belly...
Are you sure it's him

Because, the first thing this makes me think is that he is a she, and someone took him/her to be spayed.

Even if it isn't a spay incision, someone took him to a vet for stitches.  So, as was mentioned, they may have legal claim on him at this point.

No. He has stitches because he ate something and i took him to the vet for operation. I also neutred him too. I live in the uk and i know that was him who i saw. The night he went away was raining really heavy so i assumed he went to neighbours. He was only 9 months old then. It has now been 7 months and i saw him. I asked the lady living next door to the garden i saw she said she has seen a cat that looks just like him coming to her garden and she thinks the lady next door has him.

Okay... maybe I'm just confused.

You said in your OP that he went missing before Christmas.  So, I'm presuming you took him to the vet before that.

It is now 6 months later and you said that  when you saw him he had stitches on his belly... or were you using the stitches as an identifying mark when you described him to neighbors back when he went missing?  Because 6 months later, those stitches and any remaining mark would be long gone.

I was wondering about why the stitched were mentioned too considering cats will rip them out often before they are due to come out let alone months..  I can't imagine the cat would not show up to your house if he has been allowed access to the outside.  Not like you had him a few days.  I am curious did you get him as a "stray", is it possible she really owns him and has since he was little?

Trap the cat if there is a cat in the trap if its him take him to a vet have him checked for a microchip if he has a microchip let the people have him since there legal owners if there isn't a microchip test for felv/fiv and other issues to make sure he is healthy and when you take him home keep him in a room for awhile let him have his space if he seems scared etc let him come to you once he is comfortable with you then you can reintroduce the whole house again and never ever let him back outside and get him microchipped if you catch him etc

The stitches were stitches that would just go away on their own.

He wa like a trash cat id say. When he was a kitten. He didnt know how to eat, he ate a whole bone at the age of 9 weeks (notfed by me. By the prev owner'. They didnt really look after him properly, he dint even get his mums milk he had the 'puca' problem. Anyway, he was really an outdoor cat. Hed always be out with his mum in the garden.
When i went to first get him i saw him in the garden so maybe hes more like a street cat? He did try comin home on new years but got scared and ran back in the same direction where i saw him a few days ago.

He has been gone since 23rd december but he had the exact same markings and same eye colour and everything.

I asked the lady and she told me that shes seen a cat that looks exactly like the photo i showed her and she said shell keep an eye out.
