We are driving to Wisconsin in August. Rick has to go there for union business and he's offered to take Hannah if I'd go with him. He normally flies everywhere, but his wife (um, that's me) refuses to step foot on an airplane ever again. Driving it is. So, of course, I said I'd go. I think he said he has to go to Oshkosh. It's a one-day union thing, but it will take two days to drive it. And then we have to drive back....makes for a lot of stuff going on. We've done it before and I think we'll make it to Gurnee in one day, then stop there for the night. He's working on the planning stage now. I just received my vacation approval, so I'm set.

Need to talk to our pet sitter.

I'm excited! Since Mollipop came to live with us, I've only been on vacation once....and she just turned three years old back in February. I've not been anywhere since Tabby and Muffin came to us....so maybe it's my first vacation in more than two years. But I'm more than a little worried about my M & M girls being alone for that long (Mollipop and Muffin still have a lot of issues and they still go at it from time to time). If I decide to back out, it will be because of those two....I worry about them.  But I'm still excited.

VACATION!!! what it that??!! :lol3: And, PAM, Gurnee is about an hour and a half from me. I wonder if there is anyway we could meet. Not to throw a wrench in your plan :lol2: but just a thought. I am sure Larry would accompany me too. Let me know the dates and if we are both able and willing, maybe we can figure something out. HMM - are you passing through the Crossroads of America, Indiana? Either way - it will be wonderful to get away with Rick (and Hannah ;))

How fun! I have relatives in Wisconsin, but have never been.

I hope things calm down with M&M and you get to go. :cross:

Wait...Oshkosh is a town??  I just thought it was a store that sucks money out of my wallet merely by walking by...

I hope you have fun!!  And I hope everything with your crew stays smooth and calm!  Especially your M & Ms!

I actually wondered about that. Talked to Rick about it and all he said was, "We'll see". Largely because of getting out and back in about five days. I know we're going out over I-80 (and gosh, that's one l-o-n-g drive out through there! Especially through western PA and Ohio). I'm hoping that we can meet up somehow....I would love to meet you!

I hear you about Oshkosh, Mooch. When our DS was a child, he lived in Oshkosh bib overalls.

The big thing really is the  M & Ms. Rick already called in last night and said he didn't need a plane ticket and we'll get reimbursed for the cost of the trip (up to the price of the plane fare) for gas and such. So I'm committed. But I'm still worried about those two girls.

I get the same way about Perla/Wendall when I have to go anywhere. :nervous: I know it will be on your mind during the trip - but do try to enjoy!!! I should take my own advice as we are going up to see my parent's in Door County early August. I will still worry... I always do. :lol3:

And - I-80 goes right through our town! We are just miles from the highway - very close. There is a great Mexican restaurant (guacamole galore !!!!!!) Just off of I-80 in our town. Just shoot me a PM if you think you can stop for a quick meeting. I know you are crunched for time. It would be lovely to meet you in person, though! :happy3:

I love a good road trip!

Enjoy, Pam.

I know we fret about the cats all the time, and yet, how often do we hear of problems from leaving the cats for a couple of days??  And we do hear a lot of problems!  They'll be just fine with your sitter.

I need to talk to Rick a bit. If not on the way out, maybe on the way back? Mexican? Margaritas!!!! I know we're going out over I-80 and then.....I forget. Honestly, I can't find my way out of a wet paper bag without help.

Same here with the directions. :lol2: I am still all turned around here in the new house. I think that the front of the house is NORTH (like our Illinois home) and the back of the house is SOUTH when it is actually the other way around. I can't get my bearings on directions here yet. So you see, I completely understand. ;)

I think we may try to stop on our way back from Wisconsin. He said last night that we usually stop somewhere in Indiana for the night when we get out that way. And he seems to think that will be our best bet.

Stay tuned! Will PM you as we get closer to the time!
