Thanks, Ladies. Thanks also for just reading. This is a great way for me to keep track of what's going on with him and get out my thoughts. I can't even pick a little emoticon right now because I'm having so many feelings.

He is currently on prednisolone and Cerenia. Still on antibiotic for the fever he had on Thursday. The vet doesn't think it's from infection. . . so I'm totally clueless as to what she thinks the fever was from . . . but it went back down to normal after about 24 hours (while being boarded).

I forgot to mention to you all that when we got back from the vet on Wednesday night, after fluids, he peed on the carpet by the front door after being home for about 1 hour. I asked the vet about a UTI and she said he didn't have any other symptoms, but the antibiotic should help if it is a UTI. She was unable to get a urine sample from him. So, today he peed on the carpet in the same spot. Hubby is bringing home an extra litter box for us to keep downstairs. Not sure if he is having the urge to go but can' t make it up the stairs quick enough or what is going on. I've been reading the pertinent threads on TCS this afternoon.

He did eat on his own today :) But, I also supplemented with 60cc of diluted canned food.

He also went crazy over the smell of the green fronds on a fresh pineapple today. Lordy, he's losing it.

Aw, poor baby. :heart2: Re: the peeing... did you clean that spot with an enzyme cleaner? Because once they pee outside of the box, if the smell isn't completely cleaned up (to their noses), the smell alone will encourage them to pee there again.

As to the pineapple greens, I have one cat that always goes nuts for those! I have to keep pineapple in a cabinet or the fridge. :lol3:

:hugs: :hugs: :hugs: and more :vibes: :vibes: :vibes:

It could be possible that he just can't muster up the strength for the stairs to the litter box. Good plan on adding another box on the lower level. But first, as Laurie mentioned above, I would use an enzymatic urine removal product on that spot. Here is an article that Laurie actually wrote :) on how to clean up cat urine. So important to do it properly right away. http://www.thecatsite.com/a/how-to-remove-cat-urine

Sending along more vibes to Sparkle today. :rub: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Admittedly, the first time he did it was right when we brought him home from the vet the first time - and I was so exhausted (and still had to pack for a big camping trip) that I really just wiped and blotted it with a damp rag. . . I've never had a cat do that before and it didn't occur to me how to clean it. Gross, I know. Live and learn!I'll go to Petsmart tonight :)He woke me up this morning with a paw to the face. :)

Oh, he probably just had a REALLY full bladder! Hope the enzyme cleaner does the trick. :cross:

Glad he's feeling spunky enough to give you the paw-in-the-face! ;) :)

Just a quick update. I'm still syringe feeding Sparkle, but he doesn't hate it. And I switched to the Science Diet Recovery canned food. He his slowing starting to pick at his kibble and will drink water if I offer it to him (he's a kibble addict, sorry!) He still wakes me up at 6:30 like he used to to be fed, but now he just wakes me up for the heck of it. It's like he's stll in the routine of waking me up and thinks he's hungry, but doesn't really eat. He still knocks his kibble onto the floor (totally normal for him) and acts like he wants to eat it, sniffs every piece, but eats very little of it, or spits it out. :( We did proactively take him to get fluids again on Wednesday since I knew the vet was closed on 4th of July.
I know I over analyze him, but he seems to go through phases during the day where he seems really perky and purring and wanting lots of attention, then he goes in a slup and just lays in the bathroom or the closet. (He's not hiding in the back of the closet, the doors are open and he plops down right in the middle. We made a comfy spot for him between some hanging clothes in case he needs a retreat.)
Since we got back from the vet (when he was boarded for 4 days) he has been meowing almost constantly. Unless we pet him or cuddle with him. Every meow in the book and he's almost not consolable. Any idea why he's doing this? We give him 1/2 a dose of pain meds and it seems to help some, but it may just make him drowsy. Is it attachment issues or pain? (We'll never really know, but what are your thoughts?)
So, we're still in limbo on whether or not to "help him cross the bridge" or keep fighting. His little pink nose isn't as pink anymore (not yellow, just lighter) and his hind quarters' fur isn't as nicely groomed. I just know he's not getting better but I don't want to steal any life he has left. He's not miserable, but we don't want him to get to that point. Every day is tough for all three of us
That's all for meow. Trying to stay positive for him :)

Sparkle peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. We made the decision last night after several more "signs" from him. At the vets office I told him he would get a shot and be able to take a nap and that I would be there the entire time. I just kept telling him to relax, what a good boy he was and showering him with kisses. I reassured him that there were several other family pets waiting for him. (Walter, Samson, Rusty and Speedy).

He has never been a lap cat, but he snuggled on my lap for two hours last night. I think it was his last gift to me.

It's breaking my heart to have a quiet house and no furry shadow by my side. I know I made the right decision, but right now I feel like a piece of me is missing. And it is.

Thank you all for being there from the beginning. I truly appreciate your kind words and advice. The syringe feeding kept him going for almost two weeks and I never would have had the courage to do that without the threads on TCS.

Oh hun, I'm sorry I missed the other post. At his "last gift" to you I completely broke down. :bawling:

I'm sorry, so sorry. :grphug2: :heart2:

But letting our babies go with dignity and peacefully is always the final act of love we have to give. :heart2: It still sucks. :rbheart:

Fly free and whole now, sweet Sparkle. :rbheart:

I am so very sorry for your loss. I know that words are never enough, but Sparkle knew how much he was loved. Rest in peace, little one.
