My cats have never had fleas before. The vet found "one" flea on my inside Cleo and within 2 days my four inside were covered in eggs and flea poop. It must have somehow come from the outside cats we take care of. Now I need to find a way to treat those cats. We've got three that reside in our "barn" (we've taken care of them for 3 years.) A month ago, we started seeing three more come to feed and no doubt it started there. Anyway, there's straw bedding for the outside cats and I'm sure fleas are happily multiplying by the millions. Help!

If you can't treat them topically, try diotomaceous earth. It is the fossilized shells of microscopic sea creatures. The sharp cells rip the fleas apart (I love that image!)

With a consistency of flour, you can spread it on and around the bedding and put it in their wet food. Make sure you get food grade. It's available on Amazon. Don't spread it on a windy day - its very fine and powdery.

Great idea. I went out and bought a bag, dusted their straw bedding and hangout spots. Rubbed some into their fur and am hoping for the best. Inside crew got Revolution today. Thanks. It's supposed to be a terrible summer for ticks, fleas and mites.

We had fleas really bad one year when we lived in KS and in addition to treating our pets we used a product caller Virbac Knockout which works for 4 months. Treating surfaces in the house will help a lot as you could carry fleas in from your yard, Virbac also has an outdoor yard treatment which I haven't used. We would also vacuum almost everyday which is recommended to keep the infestation under control.

I know the Knockout can only be sprayed with your pets out of the house, we always took ours to family when we planned to spray. I know you can purchase this stuff from vets offices and it seems to now be available through amazon for like $17 a can. Ours lasted a few uses but we lived in a small house.

I hope the fleas get under control for you as I know they can really suck. Even if you continue to treat your kitties keep your eyes open as any one walking their pets in the area could be transmitting them unknowingly or friends and family that have been to an infested area could bring them in as well. It got so bad some summers that neighbors without any pets were finding them so everyone was treating their yards and houses like crazy. Thankfully where I live in UT fleas are uncommon but not unheard of. Again best of luck to you, the web address for virbac is virbacvet.com in case you wanted to have a look at what they have.

Program is oral.  You would HAVE to feed cats individual if you used that.  Do not be alarmed if you notice a bare spot where the revolution was applied.  I have it happen to quite a few of my cats but does not happen to the same ones always.

I mix off-brand Capstar into the ferals' canned food now and then: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007R06MVC/?tag=&tag=thecatsite

It's safe if they eat too much, and even a small amount is effective. I usually use the large dog capsule, which is enough to treat 8 cats at the minimum dosage but I have 4 ferals and I use it all. I try to put the food in several different places, though. If you can feed the cats separately that would be best, so they each get the right amount. My ferals don't all come at the same time so I can't feed them separately.

I'll look into these. Thanks. I did notice the fur being weird where I put the Revolution. What's with that?

Some cats have a reaction to Revolution. One of ours gets a bald spot every time we apply it, which fortunately for him, is not all that often. Usually when I have foster kittens who bring fleas with them.
