A friend advised that putting baby powder onto the coat helps when grooming persian. Does anybody know whether the powder is dangerous for them in case of breathing or penetrating through the skin?

Thanks

I would tell your friend that baby powder is not the best thing to use because of the perfume they put into talc. Suggest instead that she goes with cornstarch.

Hello- We use baby powder on our show persians and have not had any problems with it we shake it on, brush and then blow dry off and it leaves them smelling delicious and looking like stars!

But if you are not going to show your cats then I recomend you buy a power especially for cats.

Good Luck and oh if you have persians please post pics!

I use baby powder on my persians too and it has never had any detrimental effect on them. I have had many compliments for grooming at shows, so I think it's fine to use it.

Obviously I'm uneducated about baby powder and cats, but I honestly would never think to use it. I'd be worried it would be toxic if they licked the remnants off their fur.

I use an equal mixture of baby powder and corn starch on my persians. I read to mix the two in a book about Persians and it works very well. It makes them all fluffy and beautiful! I haven't had any problems with my girls when I use it.
