And a
to all those special Dads and to the Pawpurrs, too.

We're having Rick's parents down for dinner tonight, so I spent the morning in the kitchen. We're grilling Delmonico steaks and Louisville Wings (hopefully outside, if the weather cooperates. According to the local weather weenies, just about the time we'll be ready to start the grill, the clouds will split open and it will rain). I made macaroni salad and the baked beans are in the oven now. I have the ice cream mixture in the fridge for Rick to make homemade strawberry ice cream. And I made white cupcakes with peanut butter frosting (my FIL's favorite frosting). I kept some of the cupcakes unfrosted, though, as I thought maybe we could use them as a shortcake to have with the ice cream and the strawberry topping. And some mint tea.

My nephew and niece-in-law came home with my great-niece (who just turned one and is such a sweetie) and they're all going out for dinner. But after the kids head for home again, my sister and BIL will come over tonight to share our dessert.

Have a good Father's Day!

Sounds yummy!  I hope you got to grill everything!

I overslept this morning and then got hung up on the phone with my Mom because she was letting me know my step-dad had a little run in with a ladder yesterday. (He was hurt enough to go to the ER; but it's not serious serious, just hurts!  Of course he acts like there is no such thing as pain.)  So we missed church.  (DD wasn't happy with me...)  We ended up going to buy DD her first big bed; which meant finding sheets too.  We stopped to give my step-dad his cards from us and then picked up some take-out for DH and I from Applebees. Yummy!!  We all managed to nap this afternoon and then spent the rest of the day just together.  We talked to our Dads and my Grandpa on the phone too.  That made me a little homesick.

The sky did open up here too; so good thing we didn't plan to grill!  It really came down!

It rained during the morning, but the afternoon was nice. There was a storm, but it went out around us, so we lucked out. We started with the wings and then Rick did the steaks. Everything was really delicious.

Remember I said that my FIL loves peanut butter. Well, I had frosted some of the cupcakes with peanut butter frosting. When they left last night, he came out to the kitchen and asked me if he could take some frosted cupcakes home. I said that he could take the rest of them, if he wanted them (I had done 12 cupcakes with frosting). He smiled and said, "Pack 'em up!" and gave me a hug.

I hope your stepdad is OK! Those run-ins can be nasty sometimes. And kudos to your DD for her first big bed! She's growing up; I bet she was so proud that she got her bed. When our grandson was a baby, we gave the kids money towards his crib. It was one of those that, as he grew, the bed grew with him, so they were able to turn it into a big-boy bed (as we called it). The kids liked it so much, when our granddaughter was born, we did the same thing for her and she eventually started using her big-girl bed. They're still using the beds.

Sounds delicious, Pam!

It was a quiet day around here. :) I went to the cemetery first thing to "visit" with my father, then Aaron and I weeded the vegetable garden, then a late lunch. :)

My Dad bought me DD's crib and changing table within 2 weeks of me announcing my pregnancy.
Unfortunately it doesn't convert though.  The back of the changing table can be used as a headboard; but we moved that to DS's room when he was born.  We bought him an inexpensive crib that does convert; so when he is ready he'll first have a toddler bed and then maybe a full size bed.  I hate to go for the bigger ones because they loose floor space to play!  So we'll see!  Furniture is expensive!!  I've got an adorable bedroom set picked out for DD that'll last till she is on her own...I just need an extra $3,000!

Her bed arrives on Friday; she was disappointed it didn't come right home with us. But I'm glad it'll be a weekend when we first put her in it!  I'm afraid to have her wander; but she is more than old enough to be out of a crib.  Shes just always been content!

I haven't heard anything on my step-dad from his dr visit today.  I'm hoping recovery wont be too long for him; but I was told shoulder injuries can take a while for all the pain to go away.
