I need to call my sister and ask if the cat she is going to turn over to me soon is UTD on all vacc. If she is, do I still need to take her to the vet and have her checked? Should I do it just to be on the safe side? She is currently an indoor/outdoor kitty.

I assuming that if it is getting its vaccines it will be checked out by the vet, but it wouldnt hurt to do your own checking too

Please don't ever assume that anything has been done, just because simeone tells you it has. I made that mistake, and it cost me my dearest furbaby I have ever had. My sister brought me a kitten that she assured me had a clean bill of heath, and it infected Leo with FeLeuk. I lost him a year ago, and it still hurts just as much as the day he died.

There's no place like home
Whenever I hear the term "outdoor" associated with a cat, I would recommend having them tested for FIV & FeLV. I too had a problem like Krazy Kat where I thought an outdoor cat was tested and wasn't and infected one of my indoors with FeLV. Don't put yourself thru that!
