I've just been over to my local hairdresser.. she has just had a baby and has her old regular clients in her home now.

We started talking about trends over the years and had a good laugh and a nostalgic conversation about some of them.

So today's question is:

What's the wildest, most fun, biggest mistake or

favourite hairstyle you've ever had?

Long day/night...I'll answer! My hair is naturally light blonde but I dyed it blue-black in the 8th grade. Looked terrible!

I bleached it platinum when I was 19...double processed. A few weeks later, permed it. Same hairdresser. Melted my hair together! I had to cut my almost 18 inch long hair to 1.5 inches...talk about a shock! Never done anything like that since!

Wow hard to say. I've had EVERY color of hair black, blonde, pink, blue, purple, you get the idea. I've also had under cuts, short, long, and in between. Plenty of bad hair styles to pick from. Lol.

Now I just keep it medium length and henna red :)

I was in eighth grade. My hair was almost down to my waist and I wore it with a side part. I've always had very thick hair and my mother always had "issues" with my hair, meaning I didn't wear it to suit her.

One day I came home from school and she said she was taking me to get my hair trimmed. TRIMMED. We walked in and when Mom told the hairdresser what to do, it took two people to hold me down. When they were done, I had bangs cut about 1-1/2 inches above my eye brows. My ears were showing and the entire back of my neck was showing. My hair was that short. My mother thought it was adorable. It looked terrible. I remember that the hair dresser actually told me she was sorry.

We got home, my Dad took one look at me (I was in tears) and started yelling. My parents didn't talk for a week. I think Dad would have gotten me a wig, he was just furious.

At school, everybody made fun of me. Rick was livid (yes, I've known him pretty much all my life). I had to have my school picture taken that way....for all posterity.

I have never had my hair short since. Never.

I had my hair down to my waist up until a couple years ago. Now it's short and I like it this way. When I was a teenager, I did fluff my bangs in a very 80s kind of way (yay, Bangles!), but I've never permed or dyed my hair so it could never get too bad :tongue2:. Which is good because we still tease my cousin about the perm she had when she was 8. . .:lol3:

But, I did wear regrettably large-framed plastic glasses, way past the time it was fashionable :anon:.

When I was in the car wreck in 2008 they had to cut all my hair off cause the doctors had to work on my head. That was the worse hair cut I have ever had. I still have rods in my neck. I have dyed my hair now back to light brown.

My grandson changes his hair color to blue  and green, red it just kooks weird.

l've always had long straight blonde hair, except when l moved to Canada. l figured nobody knows me, l'll try a perm! Yikes, l looked hideous.

Once when l was a child, l decided to cut a swath of about an inch square at the front of my part. So l had a small patch of bristles, and the rest long
Apparently l told my mum l wanted it to look like a hedgehog.

:lol3: Love this one!! I have VERY, VERY curly hair!! When I was in HS my hair was very long to mid-back. I washed the "nest" and let it air dry. with no product !!!! :eek2: That is a big nono for my hair. I brushed and brushed it out pulling it forward and all the way around my head. I went as "IT" from the Adam's Family. :flail: It was hilarious but instead of the hair being straight, it was a frizzy mess. Don't think I sported that hair style ever again.

I had long hair when I was much younger, but now I keep it very short. If it grows just a fraction of an inch I can't wait to get it trimmed. My biggest complaint is that my bangs curl up in the humid weather (which we have all the time here in Fl). I have a flat iron which helps a lot, but it doesn't keep the bangs perfectly straight all day long.

I have shoulder-length hair, though I've had short hair off and on during my life, more often than not. I've had the "Lisa Rinna" style for about 4 years, but have since let it grow out to my shoulders with waved ends, not spiky. Much softer in style!

When I was about 8, I had waist-length golden red hair, with a nice natural wave. Mom thought my face would look better with a very short, pixie-type cut. I literally CRIED when I got home!  I swear, my hair never grew the same way again--until now, it was always kind of thin after that cut.

When I was younger, I went through a punk rock phase, and dyed it purple, green or black at times!

At home highlights. They came out white on my brown hair. :lol3: I had a wedding to go to the next morning, so had to run out and buy a temporary rinse.

There was also the time that I sprayed my hair orange for Halloween and the orange stuck on my highlights. :lol3:

When I was at my (rather strict) school, and aged about 13, I put Sun-In in my hair during the holidays and went from brown to peroxide blond.

I was given a lecture by the headmistress about 'appropriate ways to present yourself'.

Thanks, everyone.. some great stories here. I really felt for Winchester..
I can just imagine how I would have felt!
