Right now I was going down the stairs and the lights were off so I didn't see Mittens sitting/laying there and I stepped on her! (Everything happened so fast) I was about to fall and I scrapped both my arms, as I held on to the rails I gave another step as I tried to get my balance and again I stepped on her! OMG I feel horrible, I ran to turn on the light, when I went to go get Mittens she saw me and ran! I followed her into my room and I got her treats and started shaking the bag because she usually comes running when I do that. Well I saw her just staring but she wouldn't come to me, so I went to her and I was going to giver her a treat and she just ignored me. Then I put it on the floor and she ate it. I then grabbed her so I could check on her and she seemed fine I then tried giving her another treat from my hand and nothing, so I put it on my lap and she ate it. I'm hoping she is ok, she doesn't seem hurt at all she is playing like nothing as I'm typing this, but I know she doesn't like me now. What should I do? Do you think she will be scared for a little bit and will get over it? And could I have hurt her though she is not showing any signs? Please help me I am still so worried for her!

Keep a very close eye on her to make sure she acts normal (other than skiddish around you).  Where on her body did you step on her?  Her tail, paw, mid section, or can you tell.  I think most of us have at least stepped on our cats once or twice, usually a paw or tail, and they have forgiven us, as long as we tell them how sorry we are.

Do you think you stepped on her hard enough to actually have caused internal damage?  That is something I worry about, but think you would know if you felt a "big" bump under your foot.  Cats usually don't quite know where their tail is and I think that's why they get stepped on

If she starts vomiting or having trouble breathing or anything out of the ordinary, then I would be rushing off to the Vet.  Otherwise, I'm thinking by morning you'll be forgiven

Thanks for ur response! I've been watching her and she looks normal. I don't know where I stepped on her since it was dark I just felt a big bump under my foot Which makes me think it was somewhere on her body and not just her tail :( I was going down the stairs like I normally do so I would assume I did put most of my weight on her, however as soon as I felt her I moved my foot away Which made me lose my balance. I don't see any damage externally so I'll be keeping a very close eye on her for vomiting and her breathing like u said. Thank u so much once again :)

I once slammed the dishwasher closed on the paw of one of my cats when she was a kitten. I called the vet and they walked me through checking her and said they thought she would be fine. I'm saying this because they have me a great bit of comfort when they said kittens are flexible and can handle a bit of roughness.

It's been a few days since you posted so I hope your kitten is doing well.

I have stepped on little paws, and once tried to close my cat in the door (obviously not on purpose). I have also closed Polly's paw in her food container.  They always forgive me :-) Your kitty will too.

Yeah she already forgot about it (thank God) poor of our kitties, I'm sure almost everyone has stepped on their cats at least once.
