It's not much but I lost .7 of a lb. this past week.  I'll take it!!
I'm in at 333 so 1.6 lbs lost this week.  Woohoo!  I'm continuing to revise my diet toward the things that are best suited for Ulcerative Colitis.  It just turns out that most of those things are super healthy for you too.  :)  I'm feeling much better than last week about my continued struggle with this disease.  Thanks for the kind words from everyone.  :)

Whoo to every one who lost and don't give up to everyone walking the other side this week.  :)
Congratulations, ladies! Great job!

Not much to report here. I'm still losing some weight, and have been true to my diet. I have decided to ditch the exercise bike idea, though.  I HATE it, and I don't seem to lose much more weight than just walking and diet, which is what I did years ago.  I love walking on my lunch hour. I haven't been on the bike for a couple of weeks, but am still losing weight. I hate getting sweaty, which I don't do while walking. That sweatiness also runs up my water bill, which I am the payer thereof in the house. I have to take shower #2, with a bedtime anti-insomnia bath a few hours later--that's 3 cleanings in one day! (If I exercise too close to bedtime, which would eliminate shower #2, I can't sleep.) Also, since I've been losing weight, I'm having the familiar exercise bike problem--my tailbone hurts; even gel seats never helped.  So, Mr. Bike returns to DH's den upstairs!

I estimate that I've lost at least 20lbs so far; now, closer to 25, according to DH's eagle eye!

Hi everyone. Congrats on your weight losses and thanks for your kind words. I've had a bad run of it. We lost Ruben on the Thursday and I started coming down with a cold/ flu on the Friday. My kids and I were in bed for a week. The worst is over now thank goodness. Now it's time to get healthy again.

Barbara, congrats on the 20 (25) pound loss!  I had similar tailbone issues with a piece of exercise equipment that I got from my mother years ago. You sat in the seat and you could row with your arms and, at the same time, you pushed back and forth with your feet. I can't remember what the name of it was (Cardio-Glide??); she got it from Sears, I think. I loved that piece. I loved using it and I could feel it in my arms and my legs, and even around my stomach area. Unfortunately, it did not like my tailbone and I actually wore the skin off the area around my tailbone from using it so much. It got to the point where it hurt quite a bit and it didn't matter how I sat on the seat, or if I put a pillow on the back of the seat. I gave it to one of my GFs.....she doesn't use it and I think it's sitting in her garage. I've been tempted to get it back and try it again, but I have a feeling I'd end up the same way. And Mom said it bothered her tailbone, too. I don't know why they can't design exercise equipment that won't do things to you. That Cardio-Glide was really nice. But my tailbone couldn't deal with it.

I sweat when I'm walking. Doesn't matter whether I'm on the treadmill or outside. Til I'm up to about 2 miles or so, even a mile in this humidity, I'm sweating big time; it rolls off my hair onto my neck and down my back....I wear my hair up when walking during the summer, esp outside. It's still warm and rather humid outside, so the humidity really hits me. Rick, on the other hand, doesn't sweat much at all, unless we're trying to walk up the Hill from Hades. I'm thankful that my treadmill has a 2-speed fan....and I use it. I take two showers a day, too; one right before work because of walking on the treadmill and one right before bed because we've been walking outside. My second shower is really warm and it gets all the kinks worked out of my body right before bed. I follow my second shower with lots of lotion and a good massage at my legs and feet.

Have to laugh about your DH's eagle eye. Rick is the same way. Honestly, when I'm getting dressed, sometimes I feel like a lab specimen! He's got an eagle eye, too, and he'll say, "You know, your stomach looks pretty good!" or "Looking good there, woman!" Which is really nice in a way. He notices. He really does. And it's so nice that he does. But I feel a little weird sometimes and I want to say, "Stop looking at me like that!"

Tammat, I'm sorry that you ended up with the flu. Sometimes grief will do that to you, too. I'm so glad that you're feeling better; I always look forward to your exercise posts and I notice that you hadn't been around much. I know you take two days off. Anyway, glad you're feeling better.

I haven't had as much time for this part of the forum, so I didn't check in on Friday. I was up 5 lbs. Oh well, I'll keep trying.

@RavenCorbie, don't get down on yourself, stick with us and don't give up. We can all do this together, even with the odd ups and downs.

l didn't check in either, l'm back to doing very heavy overtime, and l'm tired and grouchy.

Today is my one day off, so l'll try to remember to post a "during" picture wearing the same clothes as my "before" pictures. l'm now at 179.2 for a total loss of 19.4lbs since the first weigh-in, and 20.6lbs from the Monday before at the start of my diet. l'm liking the numbers going down on the scale, but my size hasn't dropped that much. l can now notice a difference in the mirror, but not as much as l thought would show after 20lbs, sigh.

Thanks, Andrya. I'm really struggling with this. But I know it's important and what I want to do.

I was up to 284 Friday from 278 I think it was.  Back down to 281 today.  Just keep trying,  I know for me when I see it creeping up I get depressed/eat/that evil cycle.

Congratulations on the weight loss, ladies and gentlemen! And, for those who didn't achieve their goals, you still can do so. Don't let it get you down. Just get back on track!

Tammat, I'm so sorry to hear about Ruben...and hope you're feeling better now.

I noticed the past few days that my navel is higher up on my belly! Seriously.  I think it's due to being stretched tighter over my gut! Tonight, I had a gander at my nude bod in the full-length mirror (I could work in one of those Halloween haunted horror houses if public nudity weren't illegal)--anyway, I noticed my torso is becoming more defined.

Or, as DH so tactfully put it: "You no longer have that droopy dog-face belly." Master of tact he is.

Droopy dog-face belly? I think I'd smack him silly!
Congratulations on your firming belly! (I think my stomach is my absolute worst area. No amount of crunches is going to firm it back up at this point.)

And a big congrats to all who have lost. For the rest of us? Tomorrow is another day, so hang in there!

When I was growing up, I was rail-thin, and I was terribly jealous of people with hips, stomachs, and yes, boobs. I like the fact that my stomach is rounder now, so it's my THIGHS that really bother me. Especially since my feet haven't changed at all: I'm still a 5 1/2 NARROW for shoes, though I can do a 6 in some styles (anything that closes around the whole foot -- no sandals, though). I'm sure that my large thighs are putting a lot of stress on my joints.

I expect I may have lost weight this week, but not from trying. My stomach got upset again, so I was throwing up all night Tuesday and therefore was not too hungry yesterday. I have cyclic vomiting syndrome, which is like migraines, except that it involves the stomach instead of the head, and it usually takes another day afterwards for recovery. Of course that meant I had to eat bland food (read: carbs) all day yesterday, so who knows?

Thanks MargeCat. Good job on your progress.
RavenCorbie that's terrible for you. It must upset your metabolism too. Vomiting is the worst. I hope you have a better week next week. THIGHS!! Yep I got them. The up side of them is people with our shape tend to have better heart health.
My weight is back down the same as the start of July. It's all a bit confusing because I was sick so next week will be the big test.
You are all doing a great job. We have to accept some ups and downs but we are all still here so we are all still trying.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE. WE ARE WORTH THE EFFORT!!
I am here waiting to cheer!!

l'm glad you're feeling better Tammat.

Today's weight is 176.8lbs, woohoo. l'm happy with that since l haven't been treadmilling due to my overtime demands.

l'm going to be late for work so can't scroll back through but l'm pretty sure that's about 22lbs total.

Good luck ladies

I stayed the same this week, so I'm still up a pound.

I don't know why. I ate well and I did my walking every day. Maybe I hit a plateau or something. There's next week, I guess. (Now I think I'm 5 pounds away from my goal.

My motto for changing my way of eating, is  "I will only fail if I quit.  And I refuse to quit."  Just keep at working on making this work for you.  You can do it!

Please try what I do...it has made so much difference for me.  I'm just like you - if I see a 1/2 lb. gain I feel awful - far more awful than the happy I feel if it's a 1/2 lb. lost..lol.  I weigh daily and every 7 days do an average - that is what I consider my weight.  It allows me to see subtle losses, and to see if there is a downward trend despite a one or two day spike up.

I lost 1.57 lbs. this past week, and if I simply take the weight from the day I started doing TCS averages - that single day weight minus todays = 20.3 lbs. lost since joining this group :)  I'm very happy with that!

Boy is my cardiologist going to be surprised when I see him soon.  I've lost over 20 lbs. since my last appointment :)
