If you don't want to do measurements and you don't have a scale, check the way you clothes fit....
... Did you see we also have an Exercise thread?

Yes, I did finally see that.  I'll try to keep up in there as well, thanks.
The challenge I was thinking of to start this Friday is to take one of your bad eating habits and not do it for the week...

Does that sounds like a reasonable first challenge to everyone?
So...  no cheese for a week?   *trembles*

OK, how about we tell a little about ourselves? Pam already shared a bit. :)

Hi, my name is Karen and I have been overweight my whole life. *group responds, "Hi Karen"* :lol3:

Ten years ago I weighed 50 pounds more than I do now. I quit my job, focused on myself and eating better and lost 40 pounds. I maintained that for 5 years or so. A little over 5 years ago, I was dieting to try to lose more and my father's health was going down hill. I came down with a really bad case of pneumonia and couldn't get out of bed and had no desire to eat. Not long after that my father ended up in the hospital, then the nursing home, then six weeks after going into the nursing home unexpectedly died. I had lost 30 or so pounds during this time frame, which was maybe 2-3 months. After my fathers death I started eating and have been struggling with weight ever since. I go up, I go down, I go up, I go down. I have lost 22 pounds since the end of November, but at my current weight I am only 7 pounds or so lighter than I was last year at this time. I'd like to lose 20 or so pounds. I'd still be overweight for my height (5'3") but that is my current goal. At that point I would re-evaluate and hopefully decide I have it in me to lose more, but I also don't want to set unrealistic goals for myself.

My husband has gotten serious about weight loss in the past 2-1/2 months. He has lost 40 pounds since the end of March/beginning of April. He has been skipping lunch and walking 4 miles instead as well as watching what he eats for breakfast and dinner. If really helps to have him focused on losing also, but he is losing SO much faster than me! He lost 10 pounds in the first week!

Well, that's a little about me. :wavey:

Since I can't go with you I will make you all feel better.

I am as of yesterday 283 and about 5'7

See you feel better now right:)???  I was at 305 but got down to 280.  It is hard but it can happen:)  Slow is the key I think as to fast means you gave up to much before you were ready.  Change one thing at a time.

I'm a total newb on here, but I stumbled across this while exploring and would be interested in joining y'all. I really need some more motivation to lose this weight. I just had a baby in February and have gained 20lbs since delivery! I have battled weight issues for years. Obesity is quite prevalent in my family and I was morbidly obese as a teen (250lbs at 5'2") so I have some experience in the weight loss dept. Definitely not my first rodo, heh. I don't own a scale, but I can do measurements and post em. I saw y'all were talking about a weigh in. If I may suggest it, that's not the best way to know you're losing weight or fat. Also the scale doesn't take intro account your body structure. I'm 5'5" and I totally rock 150 which is overweight by the scale. I had a 28" waist though and was well muscled everywhere. I also have lost 3-4" due to scoliosis and am actually a bit husky in build. By numbers, 130 is a good weight for me, but when I actually go down that low I look sick. Just wanted to throw that out there. I know how disappointing the scale can be

Way to go! You are lower than that 305! I do wish you would join us, but I get that some times are just bad for people. If the time isn't right aren't you aren't ready, then it isn't going to stick. I think I changed more than one thing at a time, but not everything at once. I know I am at the point now where I can look back and say wow, if this was a few months ago I would have eaten way more than I just did, and I don't feel deprived.

I am definitely eating less and try to make smarter choices about what I do have.... most of the time. :lol3:

Hi Karen
  Hi everyone.

l'm Andrea, l'm 50 years old and need to lose roughly 60lbs.

l was skinny most of my life, and always felt too thin, too tall, too gangly. Once l had my third child at 30, l was suddenly able to gain weight, and boy, did l

Then at 38 l decided l didn't really want to be heavy, so l lost it all. l was 5'9", 125. l was a smoker, and 5 years ago (45) decided l needed to quit. And have steadily gained weight ever since.

So, being very brave here, l'm 5'9" tall and weigh (today) 199.8lbs, so 199lbs 12oz, sigh
For my height, the medium target weight is 139 - 153, and l'm aiming for 140.

l'm looking forward to looking better, feeling better, and being overall healthier.

At 45 years & 5' 6", my ideal weight is listed as anywhere between 130-135... I need to lose at least 35 lbs to meet that.

I'd just be happy to get back to a size 10.

I'd be happy to be able to go up and down the stairs a few times without getting breathless.

I'd be happy to strap on my backpack without having to extend all the straps out to max.

Part of the challenge for me is that I have a fairly true hourglass frame.  It ain't all it's cracked up to be, lemme tell ya.

Over the years, I put the weight on slowly and most of it went to my boobs and my butt, some in the middle, but mostly t&a.  This translates to backaches and leg veins.  I have difficulty doing any kind of aerobic exercises, because 1) DDD boobs without a sports bra are very dangerous
That was with spanx AND a sports bra...

Welcome to the site and the thread, ladies!:clap::clap:

Yes, if people would prefer to do measurements, than that is fine. I guess we are just looking for some way to track improvement. :) I will still be going with the scale, even though I know that isn't perfect.

l'm so envious! As soon as l lose weight, the first things to disappear are my boobs and my butt. l look like a stick. A wide stick, but straight and shapeless.

l'm going to look for exercises to firm up my backside in the hope it will round out.

My daughter is a DD and has told me about her back pain, and strap marks! Still envious though

Furmonster Mom, I'm a 38D/DD, depending on the brand, so our breast volume is similar. I really like the Panache Ultimate Maximun Control sports bra. It comes in adequate seizes, though it's UK sized, so you have to translate appropriately. Those suckers don't move. I can do a 5K in one with no problems.

I haven't checked rules about link posting to merchandise websites. If it's not against the rules, I can post a link.

Oh, I'm a mid section gainer and a midsection loser.

Right now, I joke that I'm lasagna shaped. A rectangle from the front, and curvy from the side.

I'm tellin' ya, there ain't nothin' to be envious of.

First, I had a LOT of help in that pic, like I said... Spanx AND sports bra.  Without those things, droopy boobs and belly roll.

Secondly, really, those puppies just get in the way... Where do you think they end up when I'm upside down in downward dog position during yoga?... I have to be careful not to smother myself with them!

I love the TOS outfit!
TOS... assuming The Original StarTrek ?

It was made by the guy who put the shoot together.  He is a friend, and costume designer by trade.  You could say Star Trek is in his blood, as his father was a designer on the original show.  I was allowed to keep the outfit as trade for doing the shoot.

Thanks for the info.  I googled it, and it looks like an awesome bra.

Currently I am stuffing myself into a 38E (DD) that I found at REI.  It really is too small, but it was the closest I could find, and I was desperate.

It is my firm opinion that ALL shapes are beautiful!
