Hi,
I have a 10 year old Persian siamese cross, and this morning I noticed he was inside, which is not normal as he is noramly very active and spends most of his day outside. Anyway when he was walking i noticed he was limping, as well as avoiding touching his back right paw on anything, for example jumping up in the sofa. I am concerned as when he jumped onto my bed he gave a small welp. This has not happened before and I am worried what to do. Any help would be very helpful

You need to take your cat to the vet right away. He probably hurt himself outside and needs medical attention right away.

I would really reconsider it if you let your cat outside without supervision. Outside cats live a fraction of the time indoor cats do because of the danger. Good news is you can cat proof your fence to keep him in your backyard or build an outside enclosure. Both of these things will prevent future injury.

Did you examine his paw for a wound? It could be anything from a sprain to a broken bone to a wound or even something stuck in his paw. The yelp is not a good sign. Cats are so good at hiding pain that if they make sounds of pain, you know it's bad. A vet visit is the prudent thing here.

okey pokey, quick update. i took him to the vets this morning, and good news.... kinda, he has only pulled the muscle in his leg. the vet said to keep an eye on him, and not to let him out until he gets better. he is going to be grumpy, but at the moment he is sleeping, and is not limping as bad as he was yesterday.

I am glad to hear it wasn't more serious. Lots of healing vibes for a quick recovery.
