I have 2 kitties, my boy is nearly 4 and my girl is almost 2. They both weigh about 10 lbs. We just moved into a new house that were renting. Before moving in, we thoroughly checked the whole house to be sure no mouse poison was in the house. We have been here for about 5 days and just found the second little blue pellet. From what I can tell from google images, it is mouse poison. I have no idea how it got onto the kitchen rug (both times) let alone where it is in the house. I didn't see either of my cats paying any attention to it either time, but I'm obviously freaking out!!!! I'm not sure what to do!! Help!!!

Go through the house systematically and remove any traces.

If you think there is any chance your cats have ingested the poison, take them to the vet immediately.  There is an antidote, and it works really well, but you need to get in early, even before any symptoms start (symptoms don't show for 3 to 4 days).

Let us know how you get on ...

Could the landlord be bringing it in? Tell him/her that there cannot be any poison in the house and all the locations they have put it in.

Thanks so much for your reply! I was totally freaking outttt (understandably I hope)!!! We did serious searching in the house and both pellets were in the kitchen on the rug and we found that they are coming from inside the dishwasher!!!!! Somehow the pellets are inside the door of the dishwasher! I looked under the dishwasher and there is a lot of mouse poop.. I don't know if mice were putting the pellets in there for some reason or if the lest renter put them there becuse he noticed mice there (though that would be really stupid on his part to say the least!!) I've been checking everything in their litterboxes and I've seen no blood, their gums aren't pale and they are acting/drinking/eating totally normally. When I found the pellets it didn't seem like either kitty had noticed the pellets at all. We cleaned out the dishwasher (and all the dishes we had cleaned in it!) and are aware of where they may come from.. Do you think that's enough? I'm afraid of possible side effects of the precautionary medication (my little boy always gets sick from vaccines). I am so torn between taking them to the vet since they seem fine or not becuse of my boys previous experience!!! I am always always very cautious and paranoid about ther safety and health; I just am so so torn as to what to do!

It sounds like they've just dropped out of the dishwasher, and it doesn't sound like there was a lot for your cats to access, and you haven't seen them eat any.  It just depends on whether you want to err on the side of caution.

I think the antidote is something like vitamin K.. nothing toxic.
