As many of you probably know, Colorado is currently under  seige by some of the worst wildfires in state history. The Black Forest fire near  C. Springs may become the worst ever.  It has already devoured 360 homes, and is still 0% contained. Firefighters have been heroic in limiting the loss of human life and property, though sadly at least 2 dead  thus far. Depending on the direction of the shifting winds, more populated parts of the city may be in danger.  But what you may not have heard  is that there have also been heroic efforts to save animal lives-- both wild and domestic. There's a story and a youtube video of a firefighter rescuing a trapped and confused baby deer from the flames. And thank God for the Black Forest Animal Sanctuary. They're a non-profit group dedicated to abused and neglected animals no longer wanted by their owners., They're located on some farm acerage outside of Colorado Springs. Cats, dogs, horses, barn yard animals-- you name it and they'll save it-- large or small.  But they were in the direct path of this wildfire! They put out an SOS via social media. Even though the main roads were being closed down, people with horse trailers, pick-up trucks, SUV's, and  just plain cars with pet carriers, started showing up to help. About 4 hours later, BFAS announced that every animal in their care had been safely evacuated to temporary sites. So great was the turn-out, they had to start turning would-be rescuers away. What a heart-warming story in the midst of a lot of tragedy.

I know the members here on TCS have big hearts-- I see it every day in your posts. And even those of you just viewing the site must be animal lovers, otherwise you wouldn't be here. And I know economic times are still very hard on all of us. But if anyone is so inclined you might send 10 bucks their way. You can visit their site and see what they do at http://www.bfasfarm.org . Like I say, they are non-profit, and I have absolutely no personal connection to them. But in any case, they and all the people of Colorado Springs can use your prayers.

Thank you for the information. Those wildfires are simply terrible....we've been watching about them on TWC, Bless those people's hearts for caring enough to help evacuate the animals.
