My Bubby is 5yrs old and normally in good health. However for the last 3 or 4 weeks he has been throwing up when he eats. He will only eat Fancy Feast Dry cat food and nothing else. Believe me I've tried, since the Fancy Feast is one of the more expensive foods I do try others, but it will sit for 2 days if I let it un-touched. He has never eaten human food, he's never liked it, not even milk or tuna. I've tried the canned Fancy Feast wet food but he won't go for that either. Since he has been throwing up his coat has gone dull and his fur is kind of coarse now. He is a short hair cat but his fur is thick. Do you think it's hair balls this late in his life when he has never had them?

When you say he's throwing up when he eats, do you mean he's regurgitating food right away? Does he then eat more? How often is he doing this? If he's been throwing up consistently for 3 or 4 weeks, I would be very worried at this point. Has he lost weight?

I really think he needs to see a vet. While it could be a hairball blockage, it's been going on for too long.

Yes he throws up right after he eats, but amazingly he seems to be heavier than usual. But I agree, it's time for the vet. I only waited because he gets so terrified when he goes that his hair actually falls out. But I will take him today anyway. I am afraid because he is heavier, a friend suggested a tumor maybe. Thank you for the input, you have helped my decision a great deal.

Please do let us know what the vet says, and I know it's hard, but try not to worry. It could just be hairballs or something benign. Many vibes that it's not serious and quickly resolved.

I think the extra weight is due to retained fluid.
