So I take care of strays and feral cats and one of them who is about 6 months old got up and under my hubby's truck and hitched a ride down to his work at a coal mine it's a solid hour drive and well I'd been searching everywhere for her and couldn't find her and the next day he came home and said he's pretty sure my cat is at his mines my question is how can he go about catching her she's afraid of everyone but me but I'm not allowed to go on mine property to help and I can't stand the thought of her living there he tried this morning but she just ran and hid any and all suggestions I'd welcome!

Yes, a human trap is the easiest and best, baited with some nice, smelly food.  Extra plus is, there are probably hardly any other cats, so the cat who goes in - is she.  It makes it easy as a pie.

You just leave it baited, and look after in several hours intervalls.... Not much extra work.

You can probably lend such a human trap from some shelter nearby, a rescue group, even perhaps from the citys animal control. Just wash of the trap, so it doesnt smell fear.  And you dont risk germs.

Also, cover the trap with a blanket, so the trap is like a nice dark hole.

Otherwise, it is surely possible to rig up a carrier to be a primitive trap. But somebody must watch it to close the trap.

If he can get hold of the cat, a tip is to wrap it up in a blanket or thick towel.  Wrapped in and immobilized, it cease resistance, and you can easily carry it to a carrier or dog cage...

Good luck!

Thanks I'm trying to find one right now yesterday he didn't see her anywhere at the mines I sent her favorite food a carrier with a fluffy towel that her and her siblings slept on but he had no luck :( I'm so afraid for her but I'm keeping the hope!

Definitely a humane trap, though as someone said, someone needs to hang out and monitor the trap. If she's hungry she WILL go inside of it to get food. I would put her normal food in there, and not something new that she might not go for.

I was able to get a humane trap but its on the small side it's for rabbits skunk and squirrels with it being on the smaller side do you think it will work I couldn't afford the large one I figured where she is not full grown that it might be big enough to catch her with I'm heartbroken I've looked after her and her other 2 siblings since their feral mom left them under my porch I spent alot of time taming them the best I could but they are all still skittish with other ppl she's only been seen once since my last post my husband looks every night before work and then in the morning when he gets off but he hasn't seen her I've bought all different foods for him to sit around for her but so far none has been touched hell be setting up the humane trap tonight but I'm not sure where would be a good place to sit it I know there's a carport there and a few mine offices I'm just so lost on how to find her I miss her so much

Begin with the little trap. She isnt fully grown up as you say, and she had surely got thinner now. So she will surely wriggle in.  The only, you cant have her in there as long as usual, using it for transport and waiting till the vet opens, total tid perhaps even over 24 hours...

When you have baited the trap, remove the other food from around. So the only food at this place will be in the trap.

Some food traces leading to the trap may be wise, but not enough to get satisfied too early.

Good luck!
