Hello. My one year old cat just had a kitten on Friday. I am not sure how to tell if the baby is going to the bathroom. I am also wondering if the weight gain is normal. I weighed the baby about 12 hours after birth and it weighed 4oz. 24 hours later it weighed 4.5 oz and at 48 hours old it weighed 5.1oz. Is it just a healthy baby or is it weighing more because it's not going to the bathroom. I am new to all of this so I am worrying a lot. Thanks for any info!!

The weight raise sounds ok, or even - good.  You seldom see such a kitten go potty, because his mom does all necessary - including eating up all evidences.  Thus, quite a few breeders has seen kitten poo, as normally mom eats it up.  Almost the only people who regularly see kitten poo are rescuers - who do handle orphans and must do make all stimulation, etc etc - themselves..

Good luck!
