Hello

My 11 year old cat has been throwing up after she eats and then this morning after she drank some water, she still has an appetite and looks like she feels fine, playful etc.  we haven't changed cat food brands so not sure, any suggestions?

thanks

Jenn

Hi and welcome to TCS! How long has she been vomiting after eating or drinking? If it's been longer than 24 hours, she really needs to be seen by a vet. It could be a blockage of some sort that is causing it. It could just be hairballs, but at some point, you need to start worrying about dehydration and fatty liver disease from not drinking and eating. Vomiting in cats has so many possible causes, it's really impossible to tell.

Welcome! It could be a hairball blockage but no one can guess on-line. I would not wait to take your kitty to the vet on this one. Dehydration will cause serious complications on top of the original cause. Keep us posted :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

My cat just went through something similar and you can read about it here (http://www.thecatsite.com/t/259470/vomiting-bile-possible-blockage-in-ragodoll-what-to-ask-vet)- I got some amazing advice here which saved my cat's life! What worked for my cat was cerenia and cyproheptadine to stop his nausea and to get him to eat. I would for sure see if it is a hairball blockage. I also agree that your cat needs medical attention right away and make sure your vet gives you a syringe because your cat will get fatty liver disease if she stops eating. Also make sure they give her fluids under the skin if she has been vomiting water.
