We got a cat from our neighbor as he seems to be a magnet for cats that get dumped off. Non are actually his but he feed them. We at first we thought the cat, Otter, was a fixed male. But it turns out that she is a unfixed female. She is likely pregnant, too as there at least one tom over there that is always on the prowl. But I know there is another female with kittens (a few weeks old) so she probably is.

But we have no idea how pregnant she is. I have read that a sign of labor is restlessness. She is meowing a lot (but not yowling) and laying her front on the floor and butt in the air, and just constantly meowing. I don't think it is just heat, because we are pretty sure she is pregnant, and we have had cats in heat before. That was nothing like this, way different. She isn't very fat, but has a slight roundness to her, but I figured like people, some cats can be pregnant and gain very little weight, her nipples are bright pink, but not swollen. But she isn't keen on you looking at her stomach anyway.

Sorry for the rambling!

EDIT:  She isn't doing it anymore, she is just sitting in a chair

Nay, I dont have sure answers for you.... A vet check up for advice and further planning?  Nice you do care and want to help her. You must proceed and read on.  AND also, spay her, NOW or after the litter...

I hope he also does neuter them.  TNR or similiar.  Otherwise, they will just be more and more.

He can surely contact some TNR or rescue group around, and cooperate with them.

He can he too join our site for more advices and exchange of experiences.

Good luck!

Okay so my mom and sister might have felt the baby(ies) kick last night and this morning... So maybe soon? She isn't very fat, but this is also her first litter we think. We think she is under a year old too.

Okay so I have read that cats will do like a mating position, head and legs flat on the floor and butt in the air tail to the side, during heat. But she wasn't yowling and wasn't trying to get outside like I have read and seen. We have had cats that got fixed during heat! We had to put the in a closet type room with a litter box and food and, because they kept trying to get outside!. Of course they got some where to sleep too :p

But she was doing the mating position last night but not this morning, we put her in one of our bathrooms with the tub half full of blankets, and she has a litter box at one side of the room and her food and water at the other.

So do you guys think it will be soon? I haven't seen a mucus plug yet, she is eating like a pig. We have no idea how pregnant she is because we have had her for like 4 days. She doesn't really like our food, but like I sadi she is pigging out now, and she was yesterday too.

You can usually feel the kittens move the last two weeks. Now, we dont know when you could begin to feel...

About the heat-behaviour.   I wonder, if it is the hormon surges and pressure which make them behave like in heat, or if they DO have heat.

I know it happens they do carry two different litters at the same time, deliver them typically three weeks apart.  Breeders dont never or seldom see this, as they have full controll over matings and their cats whereabouts. But it happens now and then among common folk.

So they CAN be in heat although pregnant.

My guess, here in late pregnancy, it is hormon surges the sensations of pressure inside them which make them behave so...

Good luck!

She is still eating like a pig, then sleeping then eating, and so on.

She is a silly girl, I hope she has kittens soon :3

Here is a couple pictures of her

From the day after we brought her home. After we figured out she was pregnant (pretty much after finding out she wasn't fix) we took off the flea collar.

Today!

Again.. At the food bowl!

I kept trying to get a picture of her face but she was determined to hop back down to the food when ever I moved her.. She is such a pig today, but an adorable pig

Me and my mom think she isn't very old. Like under a year perhaps. But this is probably the first time she has been pregnant.

Since this is probably her first pregnancy, does that effect how many kittens she will have? Like will she have less? (it doesn't matter if she does)

I am pretty sure I felt a kitten kick earlier! :D

Oh and the mating stance thing. she has been only doing it in the evenings. Its weird

Nay, 1 kitten litters are more common with young first deliverers, but there is no sure rule.

Good luck!
