First, the background. I took in a stray cat a while back, went to have her spayed, and found out she was pregnant. Three weeks later she gave birth to 6 beautiful kittens, all of which survived (For the record, yes I do plan to have her spayed once the kittens are weaned, and she is an indoor only cat now, so no chances of her getting pregnant again). When I found Misty she was very malnourished, she is also only a year-ish old, so there was some concern about the kittens being healthy. Aside from them all having abnormally short tails, most with various kinks and knobs, and two of them being syndactyl (missing toes, opposite of polydactyl), and one being a swimmer kitten (he's gotten better with daily leg massages and is relatively normal now), they've been fine so far, and progressing at a normal rate. They are now two days short of 5 weeks old.

They've been starting to use the litter box a bit. I haven't paid much attention to their elimination schedules before, because Misty has been a very good little momma and has been taking care of it. Today I noticed one of the kittens, Patches, in the litter box, doing her business. She was straining quite a bit and at one point let out a pretty loud pained sounding yelp. After a bit she climbed out and started walking around, but she was holding her tail funny so I picked her up to investigate and found the stool pictured below. I got a paper towel and gently wiped it off, to which she protested a bit, then set her down and she's seemed fine since then. I'm a bit worried about the whole straining bit, and the fact that her stool seems pretty abnormal. That being said, I've never had kittens before, only full grown cats. The colors are a bit more vivid in person than shown. The one end is very green, about the color of cooked peas, and the other end is rather orange (the bit at the green end is cat litter). There does seem to be a bit of mucous coating the stool. Is this something I should be worried about? I've never seen green cat poop before, let alone with air bubbles in it, and in a 5 week old kitten no less. It's Friday and the vet I usually go to is closed for today, and won't be open again until Monday. Is there anything I should be watching for?

What a cool story. I'm glad you've got these kittens in your care.

I'm no expert, but from the picture, I'm wondering if that's something wax or a piece of cotton that the kitten bit into, ate, and that got mixed into the stool in her system. That may not be at all what it looks like in real life, but I thought I'd write in case poking it with a couple toothpicks reveals something that might give you peace of mind.
