Deadline for taxes was April 30, 2013.  I bought a tax program to do them, but after installation it wouldn't launch on my computer. I've been so busy at work that I kept forgetting to call Revenue Canada to ask them to mail me out some forms, or to look up the tax program to find out what is wrong and why it won't launch.

Today I finally remembered and found an online fix for it. Apparently it needed some update which is mentioned at the start screen of the program when you launch it, which seems a stupid place to have that when the problem is that the program WON'T launch!  LOL

Anyway, I wasn't worried about being late with my taxes. I knew I was getting a refund, so it is basically my loss with the interest.

The first thing I did when I got home was sit down and put in the numbers in the tax program and NetFile my taxes. I'm thrilled to report that I'm getting $1,199.00 refund!  I don't understand why so much, but I'm not going to complain about it!  LOL

Very nice
  Congrats.

This year l only got one-tenth of the refund l got last year, but at least it was a refund and l didn't owe.

l used a free online tax software this year, rather than pay for one. Mine are pretty straightforward.

l don't know how it is out in Manitoba, but we are being gouged for healthcare here (relatively speaking). l had to pay $600 for Ontario healthcare on my taxes.

Free online? I didn't know those existed. I used Turbo Tax. It used to be known as "Quick Tax". The previous year I used the H&R Block one.

I used to do taxes for a living and did them by hand. I just can't imagine going back to having to do all of those calculations manually!  I had decided that if I couldn't get the tax program to launch on my computer I was going to fill in the boxes on the main tax forms, and just send it to Revenue Canada like that, and let them do the calculations!  LOL

Do you have a link to the free online one?

We use StudioTax to do ours every year. My refund this year was like 30 cents and they didn't even give it to me. That's all I paid in taxes last year so I got everything back that I paid.

I used genutax this year since a couple of colleagues recommended it. It wasn't fancy, but did the job and let me do both mine and my husband's returns at the same time. Andrya, I feel your pain. I'm also in Ontario and that health tax is nasty.
