I think my cat is pregnant, but I'm not sure!

I recently found my cat and started feeding her. Now she's an inside and outside cat. I just took her to the vet and got all of her vaccines, and the vet said she was spayed because of her clipped ear. I think I know the house she came from, but I'm not completely sure. I think they could have just clipped her ear themselves so she wouldn't get taken. Right now her belly is very big, and it only goes out to the sides and doesn't sag. Her nipples are enlarging and I think they're turning pink a little bit. She is off and on with eating right now, and likes to go hide under the house instead of being inside, which she never did before. She usually loves me to pet her tummy, but hasn't been tolerating it. And I see no spayed scar on her stomach, but I know it might be gone.

Please answer! I really want to know!

Well, first, clipping a cats ear is no assurance it won't be taken,  All it means is that the cat has been TNR'd.  It has nothing to do with ownership.

Can you take a photo of the ear?  It may help to see if it's actually a clip or one which was hurt in a fight for instance.

Also how long have you had her?

Also, to me she doesn't look pregnant.  My 12 year old male cat's stomach and nipples look exactly the same as hers
Not to say she couldn't be, but just mentioning that I don't see anything overly unusual about her shape/coloring at all.

BTW, she looks well taken care of now.  Really sweet looking.  Welcome to TCS!

From the last picture I am assuming it is her left ear which is encouraging, the left ear is the one that is normally clipped.  The picture of her nipple does look suspicious though.  I really have no idea and I'm surprised the vet didn't do more to check out a possible pregnancy.

That's an ear tip for sure. There are various ways of doing it, but that's the way I see it most frequently.

How long have you had her now?  That would help also I bet.  Cat gestation is about 60 days.  Maybe a bit more sometimes.  If you've had her for a couple of months, assuming she was already pregnant, she certainly would look way larger than that by now.

I just found out that the woman who lives in the house I thought she came from used to rescue cats from the neighborhood, and can tip the ear herself, and where I live tipped ears mean that the cat is being taken care of, so she could have done it herself without spaying her. I know that she belonged to somebody, but she kept coming back.

Cutting off part of a cat's ear is not the sort of thing you could really do while the cat is awake. . .if you want to live! :lol3: So probably she is spayed. She just looks a little chubby to me, and maybe has some worms. This time of year, it would be rare for a female not to be nursing, babies are usually born a little earlier in the spring (although this depends on the climate where you live). And her nipples aren't very large or pink.

in my last post I showed pictures and talked about my cats situation (if you want to know more go look at it.) but her nipples are enlarging and her belly is getting bigger by the day! I really hope she's pregnant and she goes outside a lot but she does have a clipped ear, but no scar. the woman who we are pretty sure took her in, used to rescue cats, and my friend said knows how to clip ears. so take a look at these pictures.

please let me know your opinion! thanks!

She looks exactly the same to me.

Again, how long have you had her?

Best you go and visit a vet.  If it is NOT a pregnancy, so it may be something wrong.  If it is a pregnancy (which is better than some other variations) you want it to be confirmed, you want to be a paying patient to a vet (= you can phone him anytime  :)   )

AND you will have confirmed IF the ear tip cut is not for being spayed, but perhaps an ear damaged in a fight, so a vet amputated some, to easier take care of the bleedings.

Good luck!

ps. these links dont work for me, but it seems they worked for Sivyaleah.
