I've brought him to a vet. They used drops that would show any scratches or debris in black light and found nothing. They cleaned out his lid with a q-tip and found nothing, she gave him an anti-biotic and drops. After about a week of the drops he seemed to be healing up. Now 3 weeks later when his one eye seems to have healed completely his OTHER eye suddenly starts irritating him!

He had a ton of discharge (goop like, light brown/greenish) coming out of his eye before. This new irritation just started out of no where, he rubs his eye very very hard with his paw, so hard you can hear him rubbing.

Has anyone had anything like this happen? Is it allergies a scratch? How can we prevent this?

Hmmm.  I wonder if it could be feline herpes?  I've never had a cat with it, but think it's fairly common.  Did the Vet mention this when he was in last time?  I know it seems to really affect their eyes.  Does he have sneezing fits or any other type of respiratory issues?  Seems like those are the type of things that usually accompany feline herpes?

Here is one of many threads on the subject, just in case:  Of course, I could be completely wrong!  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/255913/living-with-cats-and-feline-herpes

Have you talked to your Vet since he started pawing at the other eye?

That might be possible. The vet didn't mention anything like that. Although the eye irritation that just started wasn't gradual, it seemed very sudden. He was playing around and then suddenly he was scratching the heck out of his eye.

He's always had a little bit of a snort/grunt when he breathes, so I'll bring up the possibility of herpes next time we're at the vet. Besides the breathing and eye he doesn't show any of the other symptoms listed for feline herpes, of course that doesn't me  he doesn't have it.

Do you know if the suddenness of the irritation is something equated with feline herpes?

I've brought him to a vet.

Which him? Meaning, the Bengal or the Savannah.

They used drops that would show any scratches or debris in black light and found nothing.

That is really really good
.

They cleaned out his lid with a q-tip and found nothing, she gave him an anti-biotic and drops. After about a week of the drops he seemed to be healing up. Now 3 weeks later when his one eye seems to have healed completely his OTHER eye suddenly starts irritating him!

Again, which him
. The reason I ask is this, if, it is the Bengal, then I am not much help to you
. However, if it is your F3 Savannah and my experience, with my F3 Savannah is anything to go by, I have a ton of anecdotal information to share with you
.

He had a ton of discharge (goop like, light brown/greenish) coming out of his eye before.

If, it was the Savannah, was the discharge thick or like he was "crying/ had a weepy eye"?

This new irritation just started out of no where, he rubs his eye very very hard with his paw, so hard you can hear him rubbing.

That leads me to believe, that is your Savannah, am I correct? Only my foundation exotics (F1-F4) and pure exotics, ever did the behavior you are describing.

Has anyone had anything like this happen?

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It had happened to my F3 Savannah and pure Leptailurus serval.

Is it allergies a scratch?

It is related to the feline URI to a point, but, in my experience, is way more related to diet!

How can we prevent this?

Kind of yes. Completely no, not at all
. I can give you some good "management" idea's.
I am so so sorry, my response is so late! Hopefully, your Bengal and or Savannah are feeling better!
just in case!

It was the Bengal. He's better now, but we still have no clue what it was. :( Maybe your anecdote can still apply to him. What happened with your Savannah?
