Just wanted to say Hi to everyone. I have been reading the forums for some time and finally decided to join. I have had cats for the past 20 years. Right now I only have my new girl Misty. I got her from the local humane society last weekend. She is 5 years old and a sweet girl. It only took her around 3 hours from the time I got her home until she was out exploring the house. She was a stray that they had gotten from a school where the kids were feeding her. When they got her she was already spayed so she was someone's pet at one time. Either she is still getting used to being here or someone had her trained to not jump up on anything. It has taken me a week to let her know that it is ok for her to join me on the couch. I posted on the cat pages for my cat Buddy. He was hit be a car 2 weeks ago. I really miss him. He was pretty much my best friend. I need to make one for my Misty.

This is my new girl Misty. We are still getting to know each other, but so far she is a very sweet girl.

I am so sorry about your other kitty :( I lost my BFF cat (he was 17) over a year ago and I still can't talk about him easily.

Hopefully Misty is bringing you some sort of comfort... She is so cute btw

Thank you. Misty has helped a lot. I am very glad I adopted her. It is always interesting getting to know a new kitty. They all have sure unique personalities.

Misty is lovely, she looks a lot like my cat, Tina.  I seem to develop instant love for cats that look like mine, haha.

Having owned cats my entire life (32 years!), I know how tough it is to lose one of them.  I'm really sorry for your loss, and hope Misty helps to fill the empty spot left behind.

Here's Tina, for comparison:

Here is my new little girl Mou Mous. She is 2-1/2 years old. Got her from the Humane Society to keep Misty company while I am at work every day. For her age she is very small. About the size I would expect from a 4 or 5 month old. She was turned over to the shelter with her first litter of kittens. Her first owner had to many to take care of correctly so they let Mou Mous go to find a good home. She is a very quite girl and very loving and sweet.

After a week I let Mou Mous out of her room since Misty didn't seem to have a problem with her. I think it may have been a little to soon or I just need to give them more time. Misty is ok with her as long as she does not get to close. They will eat together and I can play with both of them at the same time, very close together, but when that is over Misty wants her space again. Misty will hiss at Mou when she gets to close but no fights or attacks. When they were both at the Humane Society they were both in the same room and got along. Just having some ownership disputes now.

I am back to square one with introductions between Misty (5yo) and Mou Mous (2-1/2yo).  I have them back in separate rooms again to start introductions over again.  Misty the resident (by one week) cat accepted Mou and stopped hissing at her, but it turned into Mou going out of her way to go after Misty.

I feel your pain, jdukes. We are currently keeping kitties separated after some difficult intro attempts. Tomorrow our new baby gate arrives (the boyfriend fashioned one out of window screens, but it really wasn't working great) and we're going to start with simultaneous playtime followed by feeding time by the gate. Then, door closed, let them only have those positive experiences. They've been responsive to that before, but the hissing quickly begins after mealtime is over, so this week I'll try not to give them the chance!

Oh, cats. You can be so frustrating. :)
