I just have to thank you for turning me onto Penzeys Spices. (from when I won that kitty drawing :) ! ) I have been ordering Foward! ever since. Tonight UPS brought my order, from 4 days ago, fast!!! I bought 8oz of Forward! in a bag (Ihave a bottle that I will refill a few times from that.) 4oz of sweet curry powder in a bag and bought a shaker bottle for that. 2.2 oz shaker bottle of Hot Curry powder, 8oz shaker bottle of Smokey 4/S (special, seasoned , sea, salt. My free 0.9 oz shaker jar of Berbere seasoning and a 1.4 oz sample of lemon pepper. I only spent about $ 31 including shipping. Crazy cheap and such good quality! It's funny because today, at the grocery store, I bought a 2 oz bottle of gr. cumin and a 2.9 oz bottle of sea salt in a grinder..and spent half of what that awesome box of spices cost me. Gotta get cooking now!!

I'm so glad you're a Penzey girl now, too! You cannot go wrong with Penzey!  I have the sweet curry and use it in BBQ sauces sometimes when I'm experimenting. Haven't tried the hot curry yet. Love that Smokey 4/S salt.....it's wonderful stuff! I haven't tried the Berbere seasoning yet as I haven't sent in an order in quite a while now. That lemon pepper? OMGoodness! Try it on corn!

I need to send in an order as I don't think we're going to get close to a Penzey for the summer anyway. And there's so much I need to stock up on: love their chili powder and I'm out of it, so I've been making my own when I need it. Also need some basil and oregano. Parsley. Much of what I need right now are the basics again. Almost out of Forward! myself, so that's on my list, too. It's good stuff.

I was cooking the other night and grabbed some spices out of my cabinet. And I wondered about you guys and how you liked the Forward! I'm glad you like it. (And so is Mollipop.....she and Tabby picked the winners that time!

I may have to try Penzeys.
Is there a Penzeys close to you, Karen? Our closest one is down around Philadelphia; there is one in Pittsburgh, too. Both are quite far from us, so I usually do online orders when I really need something. You can order a catalog; they're really nice. And they have some good recipes in the catalogs. I've been getting them for years now.

One of my best GFs lives in CT and when we visit her in the fall, we stop at the Penzeys in Norwalk (I think it's Norwalk). At that time, I buy my stash for the year. I also have lists from my MIL and several GFs from work and I buy for them, too. I love Penzeys.

Right now, any order over $30 has free shipping. And sometimes, they offer deals. If you spend so much, you get a new spice free. That's how I got the Forward! that time. We bought a ton of spices and I think I got two free Forward! jars. Plus the one I had free for me. Love Forward! on potatoes.

I like just reading the catalog.
I haven't actually bought anything yet; but one of the girls my Mom works with is a big fan.  I'm not sure if Mom has ordered or not yet.  Or just recently.

Mooch, I like reading the catalog....some of those recipes sound very good. And I've not been disappointed with the ones that I've tried.

One of my closest friends is a spice blender and has been for 30 years.

There isn't a thing she doesn't know about spices and she blends for top chefs here.

She does regional stuff (from Ras El Hanout to Kashmiri Korma), lots of authentic dipping blends and makes up her own.

And I have a fridge full of them

Nice, Mani. I like to experiment with different spices and I'll make up my own blends. I don't know if they're OK or not, but I like them. You're lucky to have a friend like her!
