Hello, my name is Melissa and I am new to this site. I am too having problems with my little girls 3rd eye showing. I noticed it started about 5 days ago and noticed a little change in her eating habits. She will only eat wet food from my finger and looks as if she has trouble eating the dry, however I know she is eating SOME other sort of food because she has been going to the bathroom like normal, also she is a night eater (always has been). I have a new kitten in the house and my boyfriend (that she loves) has a seasonal job that he travels alot so he is gone, which made me think about the person talking about her cat being depressed. I did end up bringing her to the vet yesterday and she made us all look like liars!! She was doing figure 8's around the vets legs, jumping on counters and happy happy. Its just that she looks depressed and her 3rd eye shows every now and then. The vets ended up doing a regular physical on her and blood tests. I should get the results back soon. I am so worried about her, she is the love of our life, we dont have children- she and her brother and now the new kitten are our kids!! I just pray she will end up okay. The kitten is going to the vet next week for all his shots and to be neutered. I understand he could have given her something, but I was told he got his first shots from the person that "didnt want him" anymore. I was afraid that he would be just thrown outside so I took him in, however I am not sure I trust this person paid for the 1st set of shots. Ugghhh!!

Seeing the third eyelid along with the other symptoms is a sign that something is not right with your kitty.  The stress of having a new kitty in the house and the fact that your bf is gone is enough to bring on these types of symptoms (sick looking, not eating).  Do you have an old dirty tshirt from your boyfriend?  Put it where your kitty can lay on/near it.  Also, you might want to invest in some Feliway diffusers to help decrease the stress level in your home.  Until the two kitties get along, keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't get worse. If she does, an immediate trip to the vet is warranted.

Thank you for the suggestion for putting my bf shirt near her or somewhere she can smell it. She loves the new kitten and her and her brother get along well with him. The kittens name is Zen, he is 2 months old and we also have Boo Bears brother named Kale. They all get along REAL well, they are always sleeping intertwined with each other, its possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen. Anyway, BooBear ate a little today and I noticed the 3rd eye only slightly earlier today. She went to the vet yesterday and was tested for different things, all of which came back negative today. I have two Vet dr folks looking in to what could be wrong with her. I have however noticed a better change in her today so I am keeping my fingers crossed. She just every now and then seems real confused with what to do next. It worries me because she has always been a very "with it" kind of cat and if she were old it would be understandable, but she is only 2 1/2!! Thank you for your advice, if you think of anything else let me know.

Melissa
