Meow from IL

Hello my name is Brandy and this is my kitty buddy "Isabelle". That is what my mother renamed her when she adopted her. I call her "Big Kitteh" and she now lives with me. My mother is very ill but is making progress and will be moving in with me as well. Big Kitteh and I have always been buddies. Well ok not the first day. She hated my guts and told me so very loudly. We're cool now.

When my mother brought her home a few years ago, she was skittish. Real bad. My mom adopted her from a local shelter I used to volunteer for. (Local state kill shelter). This cat was the classic hide and never come out type. Petrified of people walking around. She wouldn't come out.No one wanted her, purebred or not. Eventually my mother and I got her out of her shell after a few months (around 3 or so) and now she is giant lap cat. She still moves around like she is very aware of her surroundings and sometimes it will take her awhile to get the feels for someone new but she comes around. She has this terrible meow. It's horribley raspy but it's hilarious. I answer her by saying "Yes Miss Stevie Nicks?". lol but seriously I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan at heart.

I want to say she is around 7 yrs old. She was adopted as a "ragdoll". Certainly acts like one. This cat is one of the millions adopted from shelters every year that people just write off as lemons but are true companion gold. This is "Big Kitteh" and she is one of them.

I reckon there may be some Siamese in there, with those eyes and the Stevie Nicks thing .

And you're so right.. so many of the shelter cats that no-one wants end up being the most wonderful companions.

Her meow is what it is lol. I had a registered Siamese when I was a teen. I had her for 14 years. I never really thought about the meow being raspy but sure enough you're right. Big Kitteh has this goofy look. She looks mean, meows like an angry sailor but is a total snuggle bugger. She seems to forever be a ball of nerves but she will actually come sun bath on the porch with me from time to time. She just recently moved (about 2 months ago) into my house. She wouldn't leave my mothers basement for 3 years. I told this cat that she needed a sun bath and I made her take one with me. She loves it now. She is like the Smeagol of cats XD

Haha good point. But the voice and basement dwelling don't help the case haha. If I catch her stealing any rings and dipping back down to the basement I'll start worrying.

On an unrelated note. Yeah she is a cross and I never spoke a word of it when my mom was adopting her. Most "purebred" cats that wind up at the shelter are inbred, linebred or just badly bred. You know how it goes. I remember at the time I thought, hey whatever someone thinks she is, she is... as long as they consider her but no one did. My mom took pity on her.  And as far as all that goes, everyone who visits assumes she is some kind of purebred. But ya know... she is a pretty classy lady so that could be what's throwing 'em. I mean I can't decide if the shelter put "ragdoll" on her paperwork because she is basically a sac of potatos... or because they've never seen a siamese cat. I have problems believing the later. 

She is due for some grooming today. I have a nice camera but I need to learn the controls. Maybe Big Kitteh can help me out
