Hi! I'm new here. Today a little tabby female came to my apartment. She was very sweet & lovey though scared. After talking to my boyfriend I took her to the bathroom to feed her & get a closer look at her. I think she is pregnant. I'm not sure so here's what i DO know.
1) She's eating a TON! In the few hours of entering my home she's eaten a bowl of food & a can of Fancy Feast. She is now on another bowl of food.
2) She has nipples sticking out. Two of my three kittens instantly tried to latch on but there is no milk. I checked.
3) She doesn't mind my kittens (8 wk, 11 wk, & 14 wk) but my 2 grown males she tried to rip apart. Hissing through bathroom door & even escaped when i left the bathroom & chasing hissing &spitting. She will hiss at the kittens then ignores them.
4) She looks kinda fat (not insanely) & my boyfriend says he thinks he feels kittens. (Not positive)

She is vert sweet &lovey. So i don't mind keeping her around. I tried to let her out after I fed her thinking maybe she had kittens but she just rubbed against me purring & went & laid down. I gave her a box with an old thick sweater in it. Occasionally she meows for loving but mostly eats & lays in her box. I also have photos. Please review & tell me what to expect.

Thanks :)it I'm kinda hopeful she is pregnant. I have some friends eyeing my babies that would just love hers. She is being watched closely. I already adore her. Hate when people drop off their cats. I live in a small college town & I'm assuming she WAS a students cat before summer started.

If she is so freshy dumped she perhaps dont have got any parasites on her as yet.

Otherwise, a deparasiting is good to do. If you have access to a vet, let her advise you.

Revolution drop on is an useful all around, allowed also for moms, as I remember it.  If you can get it.

Beware of over the count preparates you dont have sure knowledge on.

Tx a lot for helping this beautiful girl!  She surely knows how to be grateful.

Good luck!

I do adore her. She is a sweet thing & has taken to sitting on the bathroom counter til I come love on her. Late last night (as in 3-4 a.m.) she started producing a little milk in one of her nipples! Yet she won't go outside. I'm still just watching her. O e minute I swear shr has to be preggers the next not so much. She always wants me in the bathroom with her & thats when she does 90% of her eating.

Ok. She's not producing enough milk to nurse at all. :/ and she will not go outside at all..... I've looked for kittens &I asked around. No one spotted any or knows of her... she constantly wants my love & attention. (Meows ALL night) but I can't let her out because she viciously attacks my cats. She tore up the house and chased one of my kittens behind the mini fridge. The other two into a laundry hamper &I my grown males behind the couch. Finally caught her (she was idk. Weezing?) And put her in her box in the bathroom. All my cats stayed hidden a good 15-20 minutes. If the go anywherr NEAR the bathroom she goes crazy trying to get out & attack them. It's just odd. I've never ever met a cat that constantly wanted pets (but she doesn't like to be picked up) and would take on 3 kittens & 2 adults soooo viciously.

Its her maternal instinct high strung.  YOU are her sis/Ma/Dad, her souls mate, so she accepts you fully. Besides, she is not stupid. She knows she must please herself in, for her kittens to have any chance.

But other cats, especielly males, are a threat. So, she takes no chances, she chases them away.

Out in a semiferale colony, even a small female can chase away the colonys big dominate tom, it she is so minded. I have seen a film about a colony in Rome.  The mom out and gallopping for full speed chased away the colonys two big dominating toms...

So, as she doesnt want to go out, and barely some traces of milk = no outside kittens, , let her be in, isolated in the bathroom.

Nothing peculiar with it, she should be isolated. Firstly because she will soon be a mom. Second, as a health precation, a quarantine, for the safety of your residents, and not risk getting your home fleased and mited.  This is recommended standard for rescuers.

IF they were best buddies and pals with her, we could perhaps discuss to take some calculated risk and let them be together.  But they arent, espec not the males. And they kittens cant help her when her time comes.

So back to point one, separate her.   This standard separation will ALSO help your residents.

Problem solved, if not this way, so that.   :)

Good luck!

I am working on getting our spare bedroom cleaned up (we moved in only a couple weeks ago.) So when its organized and kitten/cat proofed she will reside there. The only vet in this small town (and i really don't like him) said "if she's pregnant you'll have kittens soon otherwise she'll go into heat generally once every 2 weeks & will be all over your toms" so.i guess its a waiting game lol. Either way she is happu and content in our home. Praying for the best

That is not completely without some merit. In fact, I do agree.  Better to say so with some dry humor, than take X-ray as soon you come over his treshold, and charge you 200 dollars extra, even if he could palpate instead, free of charge, just taking the usual visit fee.  Or do a ultrasound, for say, 20 dollars extra.

He isnt perhaps so bad, after all??

Im happy this situation solves itself so well, for all involved.   :)
