Iv taken my cat to the vets and he said that my cat jess is due this week early nxt week I'm just a but worried iv read that all the hair around a cats nipples should be gone now and she should be full of milk but she still has a lot of hair around them and the nipples look large with white on them is this normal I'm scared tha the kittens wont be able to get to the nipples when they are born

Do you mean due in the coming week or early the week after? It may be too early for her hair to come out and her teats to start filling. Just remember, cats have been having kittens for thousands of years and very few have problems. I know how easy it is to worry yourself half to death about your little one. Just keep an eye on her and if it seems that she is having problems, take her to the vet. Try calling the office Monday and ask them how early she should start showing signs of teat readiness.

I agree, some get milk first at the kittens are born. It is however very seldom they dont get milk at all.

But do get yourself a scale, kitchen or mail scale, weighting in grammes. Preferably an electronical one.

They can be quite cheap.  Weigh daily, so you see If and how much the gain every day.

All breeders and most rescues do so.

Here, it will be your assurance they get enough with milk, and if they dont gain, you will know they get too little and you must add some for hand. Goat milk or kmr.

Proceed with your questions and comments!

Good luck!

edit. a couple of small typos.

Yeah, you must maneuver to help the little one. For example, when the biggers are sleeping is best...

You CAN take one aside, but it will probably protest, and mom - get nervous by that.

Do weigh them also regularly, every day, so you know who gains and who dont. This way you will know when to give extra, bottle or dropper, and when not necessary.

Good you are observant.

Good luck!

I agree, very observant.

This tends to happen with large litters and is natures way of weaning out the weaker. If these kittens had been born in the wild, momma would probably not be able to feed so many, and so some would die so the strongest lived. Sad, but is the way. With domestics, we watch over the litter so hopefully all make it ok.
Sending
all stay healthy. Good luck.

Yes, weigh them every day, at roughly the same time and as long possible, the same circumstances.

And write up their weights for every one.

They shall gain 10+ grammes each day. Some one day there may be less, but if visible drop, or less gain two days in row - sound the alarm bells!

If everything goes well, you will have a nice memory.  AND extra occasion to check them out every day.

If anything goes not so well - this will be one of your best methods to notice something is amiss.

Good luck!

It is suspicious, but it can be aftercontractions, I think.  If women can have them, so surely cat mommies.

Good luck!

Good you are observant. Complications, like infections, does happen. Not common but it has happened more than once forumites saved their mom cat tx to close observation and when they saw something was grossly amiss, a quick transport to vet.

So dont overdo your anxiousness, but good you are on watch.  If you dont do it, who will?

Good luck!
