Hello

Received my new boys yesterday (Friday) from the rescue group. They are brothers, about 18 months old, one pure black the other mostly black except for a small white patch on his chest. I'll put some pics up when they come out from hiding!

They are very skittish, so might take some time for them to warm to me, but I love them already, great big rangy lads they are at 6kg and 7kg respectively. Just wish they would start eating!

Will keep you posted of progress and get some pics soon, hopefully?

Cheers

Congratulations
lt's nice to get a bonded pair.

Don't worry about them hiding for the first while, you'll soon see which is the bolder of the two once curiosity gets the better of them.

Do you have them contained to one small room with food/litter until they get comfortable?

l always start mine off in my bedroom with food and litter in the walk-in. l'd lie on the floor and talk to them so they got so used to me they would come out of hiding.

l'm looking forward to pictures, black cats are beautiful.

Welcome to the site!

Congratulations on the boys. I am sure it will br no time at all before they come out of hiding. I love that you got a pair.

Hi

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Well, they are eating or at least one of them is, the food is disappearing and they are using the litter boxes regularly. On Sunday Simo the bigger cat started headbutting me and generally rubbing his scent all over me, purring heavily at the same time. But Alvin seems terrified of me, can't get him interested in toys or anything.

I do have them confined to one room Simo is hiding under the bed, Alvin has wedged himself in the chest of drawers!

I'm back at work tonight so hopefully they'll relax a little, at least until I get home!

Any ideas on how long this shy-guy phase lasts?

Cheers
